Itinerary

Admission not included120 min

We'll start the day with a relaxed drive through the quintessential English countryside. As the huge stone circle appears on the horizon, your guide will reveal fascinating stories about it's construction and theories around it's meaning. Was it an astronomical calendar, a burial ground, a place of healing or worship? Marvel at the shear size of the Sarcen stones, some weighing over 30 tonnes and the precision with which they are arranged.

Admission not included120 min

After enjoying the time to wander around the mysterious monoliths of Stonehenge, you will have the option of stopping for a classic English pub lunch before making your way to Medieval Salisbury, where your guide will lead you through 800 years of history in Salisbury Cathedral, pointing out it's incredible hand carved columns, the tallest spire in Britain and it's best preserved copy of the historic Magna Carta.

Pass by

When arriving back in the vacinity of the cruise ship, you will have the chance of a slow cruise through Weymouth's Seafront and its harbour, with lifting Victorian bridge. Weymouth was one of the first seaside resorts in the UK, made famous and trendy by King George III for his habit of visiting for sea bathing and enjoyment of the scenic area. Today the area is a popular tourist resort, with a working harbour full of yachts and fishing vessels. You will have the option to be dropped off here if time allows, in order to enjoy your last few hours in the town before making your way to the ship.

20 min

Our last stop on the tour is at the top of Portland to get one of the best coastal views of the Jurassic Coast. With a friendly guide full of local secrets and historical information and tales, this private tour encapsulates the best of the regional history, culture and scenery. You will return to your ship full of fascinating stories from one of Englands most characteristic regions.

Good tour but poor communication.

Tour guide was On time, knowledgeable and had great personality. Communication between Viator, company and myself could have been better. I had no communication after March booking (cruise November) as to where to meet. I sent an email the day before to confirm and had no response. Finally called early morning of and it was a good thing as pick up was at ship and not a shuttle stop away as was told by Viator. That could have been disastrous.

Operator response

Many thanks for your review. We messaged you to confirm your booking on the 19th March and again on the 20th October, on the Viator app. to confirm pickup times, and you booked the shoreside pickup option, so we were going to meet shoreside. We are sorry you had a confusing time with the communication, and will work with Viator to stop this happening in the future. Many thanks for your custom and feedback

Outstanding excursion with Nathan and Erica.

We had an outstanding time. Nathan and Erica made a great team. So knowledgeable and fun to spend most of a day with. We went to the Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge. Nathan very adeptly navigated the roads during a very high traffic period. Erica was incredibly friendly and was able to give a detailed history of the sites in a way we understood easily. Would absolutely use them again!

Operator response

Your kind words are much appreciated. We are glad you had a great time and look forward to the next time!

stonehenge and salisbury

we were picked up at the Portland castle as private operators are not allowed into the cruise terminal. The drive to Stonehenge was about two hours, but well worth it. The trip also included a visit to the Salisbury cathedral. The whole trip took about eight hours and just made it back in time. On hindsight should’ve left a little earlier.

Operator response

Always great to have positive feedback! We're glad you enjoyed your tour. We will take on board your feedback when booking future tours. Many thanks.
