Learning to surf with Sandbar Surf School is a lifetime bucket list thing that you will never forget. We are the premier surf school in California's Central Coast and we have been teaching surf lessons here in Pismo Beach since 1996. We have tons of local surf knowledge as well as many of our instructors are world travelers/surfers. We truly love what we do and you will have the best time in the world going with us. Laugh with us, surf with us and maybe even come to one of our bonfires! The owner gave us plenty of notice that the winds were not going to make a beginning lesson work out. He contacted me directly and gave me options to reschedule or cancel. Unfortunately we had to cancel and he helped ensure I was fully refunded. Super responsive to my texts!!
Shane was encouraging and went out of his way to help us however he could. He was patient, and it was obvious that he loves the water! I had surfed before and picked up some useful tips. Shane helped my wife get over her anxiety and she was up on the board by the end of the lesson!
Our teacher, Summer, was encouraging, fun, and helpful. Great with kids & adults. Johnny helped us get our wet suits on. They were a good thickness that we didn’t feel the cold temp of the water.

Everyone we had interaction with were amazing! The location was great and there is a small shower that you can rinse off in. My daughter and I would definitely use this company again!!

Wonderful communications, experienced explanation of what to expect, genuine teaching once in the water. Kids had a great time. Age range for our 4 kids was 15-20.
Our family had an amazing time for our first time surfing. Sandbar provided all the gear and the instructors were awesome to work with, especially with our kids (7,7,9). We were worried it would be cold, but everyone was comfortable in the water for nearly 2 hours in the wetsuits. Highly recommend!
We had so much fun! Our family of 4 (parents in our 40s and two 13 year olds) of varying athletic abilities were all able to catch some waves! The instructors were kind and patient and we all got time with them while surfing even with a dozen or so other people in the lesson. We highly recommend this surf school!
Surfing was amazing! And the coaches were awesome! Great group of people. Going to book again for sure. My 14 year old son loved it and rebooked a second lesson immediately.
