The venue was very cool, and we decided to go for the VIP with dinner package to make it a special experience. For the extra cost we got to sit in one of the balcony boxes, which was very nice. It gave us a very good view of the stage, and included a glass of average quality bubbles. But it was definitely not worth the extra cost. The food was the same as if you were sitting on the main floor, and it was horrible! Had a soup for starter, and it was dull and lukewarm. The piece of meat that was supposed to be a steak was so tough and tasteless that it should never have been let inside a restaurant. Chose a caramel pudding for dessert which was quite ok. The wines they served was a mediocre red, and a very sweet white. That was the choice. The service was also not very impressing. My advice would be to eat at Mac Donalds before the show. It actually taste better, and you would save a lot of money. The performers were very skilled, but I found the sound level too high for the place, and the tango they presented I found to be very hard and aggressive, and not what we wanted. There are softer and more romantic tango out there. That is of course personal preferanser, and nothing to do with the venue. If you think this could be your style, then my advise would definitely be: Skip the dinner and the VIP package because that is a waste of money, and just go and Watch the show.
Hi, thank you for posting a review. We regret to hear that your experience was not as you expected. Balconies are not for dinner options, just for the VIP Show Only. VIP menu is not the same if you compare it to the platea option. Not only an upgraded wine is served but also other sophisticated dishes. VIP also guarantees a much better location. Tango songs have their own rythm and some of them may be more energetic than others. Cordially, Carlos
Loved that the show included live traditional music and song as well as a history of the tango as told by the various dances. The dancers were phenomenal and included some very difficult moves. The foods served was average but we were really there for the show. Loved that wine was included with the meal. The venue was intimate and not crowded. We could see the stage very well.

We were very pleased with the whole experience. The food was delicious with great service. The show included more than just dancing. The dancers are incredible but the live Orchestra, along with the singing made the whole experience unforgettable. An amazing performance.

Extremely low-quality food! The establishment feels old and unappealing, with no air conditioning or fresh air. The tango performance was mediocre and lacked uniqueness. It felt more like a tourist trap than an authentic Argentinian tango show. Seek alternatives; it was a complete waste of money.
Hi, thank you for posting. We regret to hear your experience was not as you expected. It is a French-style Art Noveau theater and well preserved. It was constructed at the beginning of the twenty century and it was one of the famous theather where Carlos Gardel, the most famous tango singer, permormed. Regarding the air conditioning, they usually set it at an average temperature so people who do not like it so cold can enjoy the ambience, too. Regarding the food, we would have liked to know more details of what you ordered so we can check it and improve the services if necessary. Cordially, Carlos.
Yes, it was too warm in the theater. Yes, the food was merely average. Yes, there was a longish wait between dinner and the show. And yet we walked out saying “That was AWESOME.” The singers, dancers and musicians were terrific. It’s all about expectations, I guess! A couple notes: from the lobby to the theater is a couple flights of steps that would be a challenge for those with mobility issues. Staff members were lovely but had limited English. Bring your patience and your translation app.

The tango show was excellent. The dinner left a lot to be desired. Terrible steak for me. Tasteless pasta for her.

Unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience. Though the tango show itself was lovely, we had paid for the dinner and VIP. When we arrived, we were surprised to find there was no air conditioning. In fact, the temperature was unbearable. My wife was sweating so bad she used ice cubes to cool her forehead and chest. We complained several times to staff members. All they apologized and told us there in nothing they could do. It seems the air conditioning system was broken. However, the system being down was not our fault and it negatively affected our experience. The manager told us they would call Viator and ask for a refund. The truth is we didn’t need an entire refund. Just respect and acknowledgment about our situation. A discount or part credit would have sufficed. The biggest issue for us was how we were treated by Viator. The customer support was absolutely terrible. They treated us disrespectfully and ignored our pleas. In fact, at one point they told us our expirations were too high because we were American. Actually, we happen to be Canadian, which is besides the point. We’ve used Viator before and we’re happy. This time they failed us. Very sad. Customer support is so important. This support was the terrible and we have a bad taste in our mouths.
Hi Robert, thank you for posting a review. We regret to hear that your experience was not as you expected. Air conditioners are set a an average temperature. Not so cold so other people who do not like low temperatures can enjoy it, too. It was a very humid day and that may have made you feel it was hotter. No one at the venue is allowed to provide or request a refund, except us. You decided to stay, had dinner and attended the show and the service was accomplished. We apologize for any inconvinience. Best regards, Carlos
There was too much over-the-top singing, and the dancing and music, though skilled and accurately rendered, lacked any emotion. It felt like a tourist show that did not get at the heart of tango like we've seen elsewhere, even in the streets of San Telmo. The sound system was harsh and too loud, and the venue was uncomfortably warm. By contrast, we had thoroughly enjoyed the more intimate show at El Viejo Almacen.
