Petropolis Private Historical Tour with Imperial Museum

Description
Embark on a full day historical tour to Petropolis, the Imperial city. Named after the Emperor of Brazil, the city is famous for its deep connection with the Imperial Brazilian Family. The chilly weather caught the attention of the Monarchy and the place quickly became their summer paradise. Starting with hotel pickup, we take the 2-hour drive to Petrópolis. We may stop on the way on the Casa do Alemão, a traditional delicatessen with European-inspired snacks. Take the time to plan the itinerary with the tour guide. There are plenty to see in this historical tour. We stop at the Imperial Museum (if available) and take a tour through the clothing, furniture and jewelry of the Orleans e Bragança Family. It is a private tour, so you may choose what to do next. We can visit the Cathedral of Saint Peter, the home of Santos Dumont (entrance not included) or do some shopping at the Rua Teresa. It is really up to you! After you have enjoyed this tailor-made tour, we hit the road back to Rio.

Our guide, Jaqueline, was excellent. She was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about Brazilian history. She deserves five stars and was the highlight of the entire day. Unfortunately, the tour itself was disappointing. The Imperial Museum is by far the only truly outstanding attraction. The rest of the itinerary felt average, unnecessary, and too time-consuming. Petrópolis itself appears rather neglected and, apart from its imperial history, does not justify such a long private tour. The biggest disappointment was the organization. We paid for a private tour and contacted both Viator and the local operator several times in advance, hoping to personalize the itinerary because we had an international flight that evening. There was very little flexibility, poor coordination, and almost no interest in accommodating our requests. Communication through the Viator app felt impersonal and unprofessional. It seemed much more important to charge the tour in advance and emphasize the “no refund” policy than to provide quality customer service. Jaqueline was outstanding, but the overall organization and customer service did not match the price of a private tour.
Tour was very informative and straight to the point. Basically tailored to the needs. Guide (Carlos) is very experienced and it's a real treasure for the tour company.
My sister and I had a wonderful customized private tour in Petrópolis with Wagner. He was knowledgeable, professional, and attentive to our interests. Wagner tailored the itinerary perfectly to our preferences and shared fascinating historical insights and local stories that truly brought the city to life. We were able to take a moment and enjoy in every places. The tour was well-paced, comfortable, and thoughtfully organized. Thanks to Wagner, our experience in Petrópolis was both memorable and enriching. Highly recommended and worth the money🫶
We spent an exceptional day with our guide Monica on a private tour. First the road from Rio is very nice when you approach the climb to Petropolis: the scenery with this tropical vegetation is very impressive for Europeans that we are 😉. Monica shared her love for her country and her perfect knowledge of her history in impeccable French. The places visited (summer palace, cathedral, historic center of the city, greenhouse of incredible orchids) were beautiful and exciting. In addition, the buffet breakfast included in the price is hearty and of quality. We recommend with your eyes closed this excursion of more than 6 hours.... our driver Alain, for his part, kept them well open... serene and reassuring in a Brazilian road traffic a little bit particular 😉. Thanks to them 👏
Monica is excellent Guide speaking very well French we had a great day. This visit is very rewarding. We recommend Monica very pleasant and competent, also very smiling and helpful. Not to mention our Driver who drives very well and also very pleasant. Thank you so much to Monica. Good luck to you for your next visits. Laurette, Gilles, Valerie and Romuald
Magnificent day spent in Petrolis. Monica was a caring guide and a well of knowledge. If you like literature, this city was the last resting place of Stefan Zweig...
Petropolis with guide Monica. It was not private but a group tour. Anyway it was very informative and interesting. The guide Monica was very helpful and nice.
