Peninsula Valdes Tour with Optional Whale Watching

Description
Explore the amazing Peninsula Valdes, a world-heritage site, on this full-day tour from Puerto Madryn. The area is famous for unique animal species since it's a suitable place for them to live and breed. On this day out, you'll be accompanied by both bilingual guides and naturalists. We highly recommend you to opt for a whale watching navigation, to observe whales in their natural habitat (from June to December).
Tour Options
Itinerary
The first stop is the interpretive center Carlos Ameghino Isthmus, where you'll learn about the flora, fauna and geology of the peninsula. Also, you'll enjoy the panoramic lookout point of Golfo Nuevo, San Jose and the Island of Birds. Don't forget to bring your camera for unforgettable photo opportunities!
Once in the town of Puerto Piramides, the ones who chose the whale watching navigation will get on the boat. You will be guided by our specialized and bilingual personnel, who will provide you with more information about the exclusive ecosystems of the coast and the sea, while you sail to meet the whales. Once you meet them, magic will start. The boat will stop the engines and silence will begin to reign, interrupted only by the sounds of the sea and the occasional bird. In this scenario, the whales will appear next to the boat and you will manage to live together in harmony in the same space for as long as they decide. It will be a unique moment where, if you are lucky, you will be able to see them very close.
The time has come to explore the famous Peninsula Valdes. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, the peninsula is renowned for its rich marine life and diverse terrestrial ecosystems. On the road, look out for some of the wild Argentinean land animals, including guanacos, rheas, foxes, maras (Patagonian hare), armadillos, and skunks.
Depending on the season, weather and the tides, you'll be visiting the following places in a different order or combined with other stops: Caleta Valdes, Punta Norte and Punta Cantor to observe elephant seals, penguins and sea lions. At sunset, you'll arrive back at Puerto Madryn and conclude the tour.

Magical chance to see these amazing creatures close up. Nothing is guaranteed - our guide couldn't find anywhere with orcas to view on our day despite his best efforts. But in addition to whale cows and their calves, we saw sea lions, elephant seals and Magellan penguins. Like so many expeditions in Patagonia, it's a long distance across bumpy roads and a long day - but it's one you'll never forget. Excellent driver and guide.
Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the wildlife encounters and had a memorable day. We hope to welcome you again for another adventure!
It is a great experience but requires a lot of time to travel along the bad roads in the area. Still worth it.
¡Muchas gracias por tu comentario Yolanda! Nos alegra que igualmente hayas podido disfrutar la experiencia. ¡Te esperamos nuevamente!
Fantastic tour divided into 2. First the viewing of whales, which is a magnificent moment and then the walk through the peninsula of Valdes that was excellent. The guide was excellent
Muito obrigado pelo seu comentário Ricardo! Ficamos felizes que tenha aproveitado o passeio. Será um prazer recebê-lo novamente!
This was an incredible way to see a large expanse of land. Our tour guide was incredibly informational and gave us lots of background on the history, environment and animals in the reserve. We frequently stopped to get photos and observe the animals! We did the whale watching which was amazing. We got so close to so many of these beautiful animals. At first we were concerned about the lack of English translations while on the boat as not everything was being fully translated. However our tour guide came over and translated, as well as one of the guides on the boat. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable about the whales. They all took the time to educate us about the whales, the history of the ocean and Patagonia. I could not recommend the whale watching enough. All in all, this was a highlight of our time in Argentina. Everyone was communicative, engaged and made the trip!

On this tour we got to see so much wildlife. After we were picked up it took about an hour for Juan, our tour guide, to drive our group to the shore. The drive was largely through scrubland. Juan was very observant along the drive, stopping to point out guanacos, rheas, maras, and a rarely seen tinamou. He also answered questions we had along the way. When we arrived at Caleta Valdes we saw many elephant seals laying out on the beach and penguins along various parts of the beach and in the brushy areas. Juan scanned the shoreline with his binoculars and kept track on his phone with other people there to know where to go/look for orcas. Sure enough, we saw several orcas (killer whales) prowling along the shore looking for seals. It was amazing. Then we drove again and arrived at Puerto Piramides where we hopped on a large boat and found a few pairs of mother/baby Southern right whales. (The males had already migrated away by early November.) The whales were near our boat, swam around together, occasionally spouted, and also dove down and showed their flukes. The drive was very comfortable car-wise and temperature-wise. We also enjoyed getting to know the other tourists in the car on our drives. Juan was very focused on identifying as many animals as possible on our trip and his English was perfect.
Thank you so much for your detailed review! We’re thrilled to hear you had such an amazing experience. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again!
Fantastic!! Excellent accommodation, food (the nautical ) and excursions (whale watching, the doradillo, peninsula de valdes, pyramid port, Gaiman and lobster reserve in Punta Loma.
Must-see experience! Beyond the walk and getting to know the wildlife in its natural habitat, enjoying the company of whales playing around the boat is simply wonderful.
