It was great to have a guide through Notre Dame. He was very knowledgeable and added a lot to the tour. The kids were engaged as well.
Very informative tour and friendly tour guide. We learned so much about early Paris history and the interior of Notre Dame with a focus on the art and architecture, including the 2019 fire and restoration. Reserved access and headsets to hear better were a plus!
Great to do a small group with timed entry and a very informative guide
I have given a 5 star review because the guide we ended up with by mistake was amazing. We were scheduled for the 15th and were were moved to the 16th at 1pm by Viator only to receive an email from the tour company that we were to meet at 2:30pm. When I questioned the email I was told to ignore the Viator emails and show up at 2:30. I received another email from Viator stating we were still at 1pm and when I questioned it in my response I had no reply. We were not in phone communication due to another tour so we showed up at 2:15 only to be informed that we had missed our guide whi was waiting for us at 1pm! There was a guide at the meeting point for another group whose tour had been canceled because their museum was closed due to the heat. She graciously gave us a private tour of the cathedral which was fabulous. Long and short we do know that the confusion started because the church had changed the rules for private tours but nonetheless the communication between the tour company and Viator was very confusing.
Helen was very informative with Notra Dame and surrounding area. We enjoyed all her knowledge that she shared
The title of this tour is misleading. There needs to be a change in name since you never get inside the “interior “ of Notre Dame cathedral. I sent a message to the provider of this tour asking for clarification as to whether they would be getting us inside or not and never received a reply back. You are better off on your own and getting in line to see the cathedral.
Please note that the Notre-Dame Cathedral recently restricted guided tours inside the cathedral every day. A guided visit inside may not be guaranteed. In such a case, your guide will provide explanations from outside the Cathedral.
Great - Tony was very knowledgeable and explain very well. He took his time and walked us through the entire Notre Dame explaining every detail!!
This was a great history lecture. ~ 2 hours of easily understood history on Paris, Notre Dame, and surrounding area. The cathedral did not disappoint- was amazing. Changes in regulations prohibited our guide from entering with us - but he did a very nice job of instructing us what to look for - including the organ loft and pipes.
We booked an Interior Notre Dame and city walking tour through Walks in Europe about a month before our trip. One of the main reasons we booked the tour is the fact that we could navigate the internal tour with our 3 year old son and get priority access to the cathedral. Before our tour, they changed both the meeting location and the start time from 9am to 2:30pm. While the time change was not ideal, we made it work. Then, when we arrived to our tour yesterday, we were notified that the interior of notre dame was no longer included in the tour (remember the name of the tour is the “Paris: Notre-Dame Cathedral Interior & Ile de la Cité Guided Tour”). They advised that the law changed 15 days prior preventing them from doing tours inside. Had I known of that fact in advance, we would have cancelled the tour. Instead, our tour was cut 45 minutes short because my kids did not want to wait in the long line to get inside and the other individuals on the tour did want to do a self guided tour inside. I reached out to Walks in Europe’s customer service requesting a refund, and would’ve been happy with even a partial reimbursement. Their response is that they refused to provide any refund, citing that they “provided me notice that the interior access restriction was communicated in advance.” I checked my emails and they emailed me THE DAY BEFORE (while we were traveling and not actively monitoring emails) about the lack of internal access. The law had changed 15 days prior and they didn’t reach out until the day before our tour. I understand circumstances outside their control impacted the tour. What is not acceptable is their refusal to acknowledge that they did not properly notify me with enough time to cancel the tour I booked that could not be completed. And of course their refusal for any sort of refund or customer service regarding the issue. In short—DO NOT USE Walks in Europe for your tours unless you want to receive bad customer service.
The Cathedral has never been advertised as offering priority entry, as no such option exists. Entry is free for everyone. As an active place of worship dedicated primarily to prayer rather than tourism, the Cathedral has the right to decide when and how visitors are admitted. These arrangements can change frequently and often without prior notice. Whenever we receive updated information from the Cathedral, we do our best to inform our customers as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. As stated in the tour description, access to the Cathedral is always subject to its own operational decisions and may change at the discretion of the religious authorities.
Excellent private tour for four of us. Our tour guide Gwen was very knowledgeable and did an awesome job!
