This building was a second-hand clothing market from 1863. It kind of embodies the history of Le Marais, as it went from a poor neighborhood to a trendy one. Now it's used as an exhibition hall.
This is the oldest food market in Paris. It's included in so many food tours, documentaries, and books. Parisians love to come here on weekends, we'll see together why.
La rue des Rosiers is the heart of the Jewish district of Paris. There has been a Jewish community in Paris since the Middle Age, and coming to this street is a great way to discover the Jewish culture.
A Royal square dating back to 1612. Truly the landmark of Le Marais. Victor Hugo used to live on that square. We'll see why it's iconic and how beautiful it is.

My husband and I had the privilege of having Hugo as our walking tour guide through Le Marais. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about the area as well as the history of Paris and France in general. He was an absolute delight, personable, humorous and a pleasure to spend time with as he guided us through the historic district of Paris. Thank you!
Clara was an excellent guide and this was a great way to start our visit to Paris. We saw parts of Le Marais that we’d never have found on our own, and we learned enough about the history of Paris to give us context for our week in the city. Excellent!
The tour was amazing. I learned so much and was able to ask all my questions. I highly recommend this walking tour if you want to learn more about the history of Paris.
We had a wonderful, informative, fun walking tour in the Marais area with Clara Even though it was pouring rain the day we walked with Clara, she made it so interesting. We were not uncomfortable at all. We would highly recommend Clara for walking tours and her company for sure. We spent the following week in Paris and felt totally at home here because we had become so familiar with our area.
Clara gave us a very informative and fun tour around the Marais area - even in the rain it was excellent and we are so grateful to learn about this district. The rest of the week we felt at home in the area - we highly recommend Clara and her company ..
We had a great time with Lou, thanks to whom we learned a lot about our beautiful capital! I recommend 👍
Lou was an expert in all things historical and current about Le Marais. We learned so much on this wonderful walking tour. She answered all of our many questions! So much to see, and especially eat, in this cosmopolitan neighborhood! The Jewish history was especially fascinating. Would highly recommend. Merci!
A very informative tour, and Lou was very knowledgeable, and so friendly. I will recommend this trip to everyone. A great way to bring history to life and learn new things as you walk along the path.
Lou walked me around the fascinating Marais district and gave me a really great understanding of the development of the area over the centuries. She told me about the political, cultural, social, environmental & architectural/structural changes in the area and greater Paris. All the while walking through beautiful backstreets that I would not have discovered on my own. She has a very deep understanding of the area and the tour was exactly what I was hoping for.
Our guide Valentin was very knowledgeable and helpful. He had a friendly demeanor and was very patient with our questions. We learned quite a bit, and would strongly recommend him!
