Itinerary
Your rendez-vous with Paris’ famous dead begins in the morning at Alexandre Dumas metro station. Meet your english-speaking guide and stroll into Père Lachaise Cemetery, the city’s most visited graveyard. Spanning 110 acres (44 hectares), this cemetery houses hundreds of thousands of the city’s famous and infamous dead in tombs of varying extravagance. Hear about some of the site’s famous artists, musicians and writers that rest here such as Edith Piaf, Molière, Chopin, Proust, Delacroix, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde. Wander through the labyrinth of graves and along stony paths to visit tombs accented in eccentricity and distinction. As you experience the haunting magnificence of the cemetery, you’ll learn tragic histories of lovers like Heloïse and Abelard – united in a single tomb in the 1817 after centuries apart – and forward-thinking women like writers Gertrude Stein and Collette. Your 2-hour tour concludes at Porte du Rèpos near the Philippe Auguste metro stop.

Our guide Victoir’s knowledge about the history and purpose of the cemetery and the people whose graves we visited sparked an interest in me and my friend, who is a local and who admitted that she was learning more than she expected. As a finale Victoir explained the map of the cemetery and the route we had taken which made it worth a return visit in the near future.
Our guide “Vic”, a lovely young woman, was an absolute wealth of knowledge. Her story telling was engaging and her history recollections made her sound like a professor, she says she wasn’t, but much more interesting!
Abi was a great guide. She took us to many of the famous graves and directed us at the end of the tour to any other graves we were interested in seeing. She also provided restaurant recommendations for the local area.
Did not have a visit because the appointment was not at Père Lachaise…UNBELIEVABLE!!! We called the number given on the reservation despite the choice in French, and we only got English. I paid for nothing because I never found the guide, customer service was zero. Absolutely to avoid
Cordialement.
Becky was amazing! Very knowledgeable and the tour was paced very well!
We had a fantastic tour with Becky, who is a a great storyteller and passionate about history. The tour was well paced and there were a lot of shaded areas to protect us from the sun.
Becky was an incredible guide! I’m so thrilled we booked this tour and didn’t let the heat wave stop up. She was so knowledgeable and a great story teller. She also ensured we stayed together safely and remained hydrated. I definitely recommend!
Becky was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and kept our interest the entire time.
Andrea was a lovely person, all the questions we asked she knew the answer and she gave us a lot of information that me and my girlfriend were interested about it. The hole experience was fantastic!!
Our Guide Carole was excellent, very knowledgeable and helpful to interpret and guide us through the Pere Lachaise maze.
