Our Lord in the Attic Museum Entrance Ticket in Amsterdam

Description
Hidden in the heart of the city centre of Amsterdam is a small wonder: Our Lord in the Attic Museum. Visitors will be going on a journey in a unique well-preserved canal house from the 17th century. Narrow corridors and stairs lead to historically decorated living quarters, kitchens and bedsteads, ending in what is literally the highlight of the museum: a complete church in the attic.

Itinerary
This Catholic church dates from 1663. While it was prohibited to celebrate mass, the authorities turned a blind eye. Indeed, the church symbolises the characteristic (religious) tolerance of the Netherlands, established by the Dutch in the sixteenth century under Willem of Orange. Freedom of religion and of conscience are central themes at the museum today. It makes Our Lord in the Attic far more than a museum: it is a special place in which to contemplate and to experience. Extension Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder is the oldest museum in the city, second only to the Rijksmuseum. A unique monument from the Golden Age, it has been preserved largely due to initiatives taken by private individuals. In 2015, the monument was extended into an additional building at Oudezijds Voorburgwal 38, where the new entrance vestibule was established. The two buildings are connected to each other via an underground passage. Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder is now a proper in situ museum – where history is tangible and everything is old and authentic, where visitors can truly experience the building and its story, and where a link can even be established with current events.

This museum is strongly recommended, we really enjoyed our visit, but unfortunately we had to pay again as my transaction was showing pending, it didn’t clear until the next day and thought staff assured me they would refund my tickets if it went through they refused and suggested we get in touch with our 3rd party which is aviator, don’t know why it was delayed by pending.
A relative suggested we visit and we weren’t disappointed. It was fascinating to hear the history and see the church and realise this had also been someone’s house! Glad we took the time to visit. The audio system is very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. There’s a small cafe and we took time for a coffee when we’d finished. A word of warning, the steps are very steep.
This tour is enlightening. You will learn about life in Amsterdam. Living in theses multistory houses. You will also learn about the Catholic community response to the oppression. The church in the attic includes a full church. Organ, baptism, chapel. Choir loft seating and altar. All while maintaining a household and daily life. We are not Catholic and enjoyed the experience.
This was better than we expected. The audio tour was perfect. Gave enough information to understand the purpose of this church without overwhelming you. It was an hour well spent. They also have a nice cafe and gift shop with high quality items.
Wow! This small house has a HUGE church upstairs! Incredible building and very informative audio tour. A really excellent visit.
Such a great tour and so thorough. The audio tour explained everything well. I am so glad I found this to visit while in Amsterdam! It was definitely a highlight of our trip.
What a pearl this is! Seen from the water, now visited and certainly no regrets, so informative and well preserved full of surprises and the audio tour is perfect in terms of info, not too much but what you want to know. Clean and nice staff.
