Great way to learn about coffee, bananas, sugar cane and local culture
Awesome experience. I don't know how it compares to the larger coffee farms, but Joel was very informative and engaging. The hands on experience far exceeded my expectations. I had one of, if not the best cup of coffee. A must if staying in Atusha.
Cosmas took us on a coffee tour through his family’s farm. He and his friends Joel told (and showed) us much about the coffee farming, roasting and traditional brewing method after which we sat down together, tried our own freshly brewed coffee and talked about life in Arusha, history and politics. Cosmas’s sister cooked up a tasting lunch of local dishes. The whole experience was super interesting and sitting down for coffee and lunch made us feel very welcome. We highly recommend this coffee tour. Part of the tour cost contributes to a local school which is an extra benefit. The booking process was easy and Cosmas arranged transfer for us without any problem .
My family and I enjoyed a lots in this tour! coffee was excellent and the food was the best traditional lunch I have ever had.
This was an amazing experience! We love to experiment ence something unique and a little out of our comfort zone at countries we visit. The house is out of town a bit don’t let that deter you. We hired a driver to take us and wait to return us to the lodge, The owners, husband and wife were so welcoming, shared their story of how this developed. The experience started with a tour of the grounds (a half an acre) with three different types of bananas, mangoes, thyme, parsley, rosemary, avocados, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, more vegetables, and coffee beans . They also offer coffee tasting. The coffee was the best coffee we’ve had in weeks! There were also chickens, a cow for milk and goats. We helped prepare the luncheon cutting up multiple vegetables, meats, rice, making a flat bread, etc. It took about 2 1/2 hours to prepare with all the courses. They had the table set on the top deck with gorgeous view of the mountains. The meal was a feast! Beautiful colors and favorable dishes. We all sat down to eat as a family and friends. I highly RECOMMEND that you book this experience, you will not be disappointed.
Barry was a wonderful host. He taught us all about farming coffee and bananas !! A heads on experience. We husked, ground and roasted some coffee beans and then made coffee. Which went with a delicious home made lunch. Highly recommend this tour !!
We had an amazing time on this tour! We learned a lot and had fun doing it. Picking and making our own coffee was a lot of fun and something we can't do at home. The lunch afterwards was also great! It was our favorite meal in Tanzania. Everyone was very professional and fun to be around.
Highly recommended experience to learn more about Arusha and the history of coffee. The guide taught us many things about the history and process of coffee. We visited his plantation and made our own coffee. In the end you can take it and give you the rest to do it at home. Speaking English is essential but really worth it for an authentic and different experience.
Incredible experience. The plantation is absolutely beautiful and lush with a wonderful view of the mountain and the sound of the river. Cosmas is a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. The coffee is wonderful and we loved enjoying our cups with a view of the mountain in the treehouse. Highly recommend this experience as the first thing you do when visiting Tanzania (before safari) to get and understanding of some culture and history. It was the perfect introduction. Also, make sure you book the package with food! The meal was delicious and authentic and served in a stunning location.
The coffee making experience was outstanding. Lunch was excellent AND our tour guide COSMAS did a fantastic job. Overall, way more than we expected !!!
