We thoroughly enjoyed the full day tour of Omaha and Utah beaches including the American Cemetery and other locations (related to paratrooper landings and battles). Remy was our guide and was a delight. He was very knowledgeable and clearly was devoted to telling the stories of D-Day to ensure they will be remembered forever. Highly recommend this tour and also suggest you request Remy by name.
We did 2 days of tours - Day 1 was to the American sites (Cemetery & Memorial, Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, many great bunkers, memorials, and other sites on the way). Day 2 was to the British and Canadian sites (Cemetery, Sword, Juno, and Gold beaches, plus other sites). Jean DiLasser was our guide both days and was amazing! He was able to accommodate all our asks and customize the days, while also adapt to the heat and children. He was so well informed and gave us the historical context we needed and additional insights we hadn’t learned from our own historical research. It was paced well, and my 15 yrs old wanted to mention how knowledgeable he was and resourceful in finding any others details we asked about. We really enjoyed our days and would highly recommend Jean and Overload to anyone looking for D-Day tours in Normandy.
Our guide Lucas was exceptional from start to finish, there was no question he could not answer. He bought so many of the sites alive with his detailed explanations. When I booked for my family I thought the tour a little expensive however it was worth every penny. Would highly recommend this full day tour and if you are lucky you might get Lucas.
I had an amazing solo 3 day experience with Steven as my guide. One day at the American beaches, one day at the British and Canadian beaches and one day in 101st area. Steven had incredible knowledge of of all those involved. Plus, the Overlord Tour group is the only group with access to the location where Major Winters took out the 4 guns.
There are group tours, there are private tours, and then there is the Overlord private tour in a class of its own. Our guide, Louie, was incredible. He spoke perfect English. He had an incredible depth and breadth of historical knowledge about the people and events on D Day. He was funny, smart, and made us feel like we were getting information and access that no one else was getting. He knew the local spot to grab lunch before the huge tour buses showed up. He knew the field where the 101st ambushed 60 German soldiers shelling Utah beach. He knew it all. We could not have been better taken care of.
We did the full day Omaha and Utah tour with Thierry as our guide. The bus was comfortable and Thierry was a fabulous guide. Definitely appreciated that the bus had A/C in the heat wave. The stops on the tour were well picked and thoughtful. Thierry did a great job of providing the history and context and then giving us time to walk around. My teenagers even both found it interesting and said they learned new things.
This was our first guided tour and we had doubts about being on scheduled times and the mercy of the guide. Happy to say this was the most efficient and informative way to see history. Lucas was the best guide as he balanced his personal connections to the Normandy area and historical facts. We rate this experience a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend Overland Tour based on the ease of logistics, time management at the stops, and information driving and the sites.
I can’t say enough good things about this tour! Our guide, Jean Dilasser, was absolutely incredible from the moment he picked us up at our BnB to the moment he dropped us off at the end. He is so knowledgeable and answered every one of our many questions with care and if he didn’t have the answer right away he made sure to get it. He was able to customize the day to our preferences and offered some of his recommendations along the way. Every single stop we went to he offered unique and interesting insights. One of the stops we had planned to go to was closed unexpectedly but he was able to shift course easily and took us to another amazing spot instead. He was very kind and always asked if we understood or had any more questions. It was awesome to be with someone who is so clearly passionate about what he does. If you have the opportunity to book a tour with Overlord, don’t hesitate. The van was very nice and clean and Jean had waters available for us if we needed them. We have only a short time in Bayeux and we are so happy to have spent the day learning about the amazing history of this area. We were so sad the tour with Jean had to come to an end but we hope to be back one day!
Absolutely Fantastic Stephane LePrince and Jean Dilasser Are GREAT GUIDES !
Remy was our tour guide. He was great! He is very knowledgeable about the area as well as the history surrounding DDay. We spent a full day with him on a private tour. Excellent day. Thanks Remy
