The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. Built in 1901 by the Italian construction company Garozzo-Zaffarani to a design by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the edifice is one of the largest museums in the region. As of March 2019, the museum is open to the public. In 2021 the museum is due to be superseded by the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.

Coptic Cairo is a part of Old Cairo which encompasses the Babylon Fortress, the Coptic Museum, the Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George and many other Coptic churches and historical sites. It is believed in Christian tradition that the Holy Family visited this area and stayed at the site of Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church (Abu Serga). Coptic Cairo was a stronghold for Christianity in Egypt both before and during the Islamic era, as most of its churches were built after the Muslim conquest of Egypt in the 7th century.

Epic sightseeing in Cairo

Another great tour with Emo tours. Old Cairo with its Coptic churches and the synagogue was fascinating. The citadel of Saladin was impressive and the Egyptian Museum tour complemented the pyramids tour, which we had done 2 days earlier, perfectly. Khan Khalili market is an assault on the senses and a great experience of sights, sounds and smells.

Great Tour Guide Ehab. Nice Food. FULL day!

Highly recommend this trip! Things I love about it: - Pick-up time is very punctual. - Responsible Tour guide: our guide has worked in the industry for 15+ years and he explained the important pieces to us in details. He demonstrated great experience and he really knows the history very well. He even told us the heck to bargain and recommend a few more places for us to go for shopping. - Safe driver - Lunch is great! We really enjoy the food at lunch Thank you Ehab! You made our trip great!
