Not a Typical Cruise: Max 10, Bites, Drinks, Local, Personal

Description
This is NOT a standard canal cruise. Skip the crowds: max 10 guests, local captain as your personal guide, quality drinks and Dutch bites. No big groups or scripts—just real stories, truly different. With our unique 100% electric 100+ year old boat Giuliana that has both an inside and outside area, has a toilet and is heated in the winter, we will provide an intimate 2-hour cruise. We will pass all the highlights that Amsterdam has to offer, including the world-famous canal belt, the river Amstel, the old city (red light district), the maritime area and places where large tour boats cannot go. Along the way we will make a stop to pick up some traditional Dutch fried snacks and we have a cheese platter and Dutch cookies on board while you are enjoying a wide variety of (non) alcoholic drinks including a local spirit (Jenever), Cava/Prosecco and G&T.

We absolutely loved our canal tour on the Julianna—a small 100 year old wooden boat that has been converted to electric power. Boat has outdoor back deck, comfortable covered but full view main seating area and even a bathroom. The cute, small boat made for a much more intimate experience—we had just seven people on our tour, and they cap it at 10. There were plenty of drinks throughout the cruise, including beer, wine, prosecco, gin and soft drinks, along with a great assortment of hot and cold bites like bitterballen, spring rolls, fried cheese, cheese and cookies. Our captain, Mare, was lovely—knowledgeable, friendly and the perfect host. This was our second canal tour in Amsterdam. Our first was with one of the big companies on one of their long tour boats, and this experience was SO MUCH BETTER. More personal, more relaxed and simply a much nicer way to experience the canals. Size matters—in this case, smaller is better. Highly recommend this tour—and we especially loved being able to support a small, independent business owner.
Oh wow wow wow what an absolutely fantastic and extensive review. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, we really appreciate it! It seems like all our efforts to provide a smaller more personal tour was fully being appreciated from our unique vessel Giuliana, our local snacks and drinks, our true local captains/guides to of course our amazing city itself! Thank you so much for supporting a real local business and we do hope to welcome you back in the near future!
This was a very enjoyable and informative experience. Mare was a wealth of knowledge and was happy to share a discuss.
Hi Martin, Thank you for the great review! It was also very enjoyable having had you on board and we would love to welcome you back for another informative tasty and beautiful tour of Amsterdam!
Great boat, great Captain, and the right size tour. Don't need a 60 people in the boat tour. This small group was perfect and the snacks plentiful and tasty!
Hello William, Thank you for the great review! Very nice to hear that our unique boat, our smaller more personal tour including local snacks and drinks and of course our amazing city was being appreciated so much! We do hope to see you soon again!
This was so much better than traveling with 44 other people. The ship’s captain was knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone had a lovely time.
Hi Dawn, We fully agree that a smaller more personal tour is the best way to really explore and get to learn all about our amazing city! Thank you for your great review and we do hope to welcome you back on board soon again!
What a wonderful tour! Sebi and his fabulous 100+ year old historic boat led to a magical experience as we cruised around Amsterdam and learned about the city’s history. The food was delicious and the drink was exceptional. Since it was a small group (8 guests) we enjoyed delightful conversation.
Hello Sandra, A wonderful review, thank you very much! So nice to see that our unique boat, our smaller group, our local snacks and drinks and of course our amazing city were appreciated so much. Hopefully we can welcome you back on board soon again
We had a great time with Sebi on his boat. The two-hour canal tour was a wonderful balance of relaxation, history, and touring Amsterdam. There were 10 people on our boat which made the tour itself feel more personalized and the boat was big enough that there was also room to stretch out or go onto the back deck. The snacks and drinks were well balanced. We had a great time!
Beautiful review and love to see that our efforts to provide a balanced smaller more personal tour on our unique boat Giuliana with both indepth knowledge but also relaxation while enjoying a local snack and drink and of course Amsterdam's beauty worked out so well! Hope we can do it all soon again
We highly recommend this small group tour with Sebi Boat Tours, making for a more personalised experience. Our boat captain Mare was very friendly and knowledgeable. She looked after us very well, providing a great explanation of the history and all the main sights. It was worth doing the longer 2 hour tour which allows them to go along some of the smaller canals. A wide selection of drinks and great food. Overall we couldn’t have asked for a better experience and this was definitely a highlight of our visit to Amsterdam.
Dear Peter, Thank you so much for this great recommendation, we do appreciate it! So nice to hear that our smaller more personal tour was the highlight of your visit to our beloved city! We of course fully agree that a 2 hour small boat tour is the best way to really explore Amsterdam from the water! Wonderful that Mare was such a succes and that she could show and tell you all about our amazing city! Hope to see you soon again
Incredible tour, you did not fell like you were on a tour. Sebastian, our captain made you fell like you were invited in his own home! Very interesting tour with plenty of comments on local history. Also, don’t worry, plenty of food and drinks! Again, one of the best “boutique” tour I have been on.
Hello Serge, What a beautiful review and possibly the best compliment we can get is that you felt truly at home on board with us! We do hope we can welcome you back home soon again for another beautiful tasty and informative tour of Amsterdam 😄!
Loved the small group….our captain was the BEST! Fortunate that not much canal traffic that day…I would take this again…
Dear Karen, Love the review and thank you for your kind words! We would also love to welcome you back on board soon again for another smaller and more personal tour of Amsterdam!
The meeting place needs a better description. 196-198 Kaisergracht is not an intuitive peer. It would help if there was some sort of marker or person on the site at least 15 minutes before the cruise. Also, while our captain was very personable and told us a lot about living in Amsterdam today, it would have been nice to have had little more history and description of the buildings we were passing. It felt a little light in that regard.
Dear Brooke, Thank you for your 5 star review, we really appreciate it! Sorry to hear you had trouble finding the dock. Unfortunately the municipality of Amsterdam does not allow us to have a sign at the dock in front of Keizersgracht 196/198, we have tried multiple times. Luckily all our other guests do seem to find our dock in the end with the description on viator of Keizersgracht 196/198 (next to Westerchurch and behind the Anne frank house) 2 very well known spots next to our dock. Also there is always someone wearing a black cap with Sebi Boat Tours on it present 5-10 minutes before departure but we will definitely look into how we can improve this situation. Also sorry to hear that you felt our tour was a little light on the history and description of the buildings. Our local captains/guides are very knowledgeable and can always be asked any question you may have on the history or buildings along the route. As we always offer live guiding and try to find a good balance between historical facts, present info and time to just admire the surroundings it could be that some buildings or history is missed. We do apologize and will also discuss internally how to improve this. We do hope you still had a good time on board with us and that we may welcome you back on board and show and tell you even more on our beautiful city!
