In Arromanches, you'll be transported back in time to witness the ingenuity of the Allied forces during World War II. This historic town was a crucial site for the successful Normandy landings, known as "Operation Neptune." Today, you can still see the remnants of the artificial Mulberry harbor that was constructed here to facilitate the unloading of troops and supplies. The panoramic views of the coastline are breathtaking, and you'll gain a deep appreciation for the strategic significance of Arromanches during this pivotal moment in history.
Longues-sur-Mer is home to a well-preserved German coastal battery. The four artillery casemates overlook the English Channel and were part of Hitler's Atlantic Wall defense system. You'll have the opportunity to explore these imposing fortifications and learn about the intense battles that took place here on D-Day. The site offers remarkable views of the surrounding landscape and provides a glimpse into the challenges faced by both Allied and German forces during the invasion.
As a charming fishing port, Port-en-Bessin played a crucial role during the Normandy landings, serving as an important logistics hub for the Allied forces. Today, it exudes tranquility and offers a picturesque setting to explore. Your guide will share stories about the port's significance during the war and the remarkable efforts made by the soldiers to secure this vital harbor.
Omaha Beach is one of the most famous landing sites of D-Day and holds significant historical importance. Here, you'll stand on the same sands where thousands of American troops bravely stormed the shore amid heavy gunfire and artillery. Your guide will provide a moving account of the challenges faced by the soldiers during this intense battle. As you walk along the beach, you can pay your respects at the memorials and reflect on the valor and sacrifice of those who fought here.
The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, situated on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach, is a poignant and deeply moving tribute to the fallen soldiers. Your guide will share stories about the individuals laid to rest here and provide insight into the profound impact of their sacrifices on the course of history.
Cider tasting is optional in the Tour. Indulge in a sensory journey at Ferme de la Sapiniere where centuries of cider-making tradition await. Nestled in the heart of Normandy, this historic cidery offers more than just delightful beverages; it's a portal to the past. Founded in the 16th century, this cider has stood witness to the region's rich history, including the tales of Château de la Percée, a nearby castle that once hosted noble gatherings. Savor each sip amidst the rustic charm of the cideries, where the art of cider-making has been perfected over generations. It's not just a tasting; it's an immersion into the soul of Normandy.
As we pass through Bayeux on our return journey, catch a glimpse of its medieval charm, highlighted by the striking Bayeux Cathedral. Dating back to the 11th century, this Gothic masterpiece is a testament to the town's rich history. Thierry was very nice, knowledgeable, fun to be with, easy to talk to, relaxed, helpful, and a good driver! Our tour covered many areas, but it was relaxed (not rushed) and you were able to ask any question you would like.
So many compliments! Guys I am flattered:)

Our Viator tour with Thierry was one of the highlights of our trip. My 12-year-old son and I explored the main Normandy World War II sites in a classic motorcycle sidecar, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Driving through the French countryside, along back roads and through small towns, was incredibly fun, and Thierry made the day even more special with his engaging personality and the way he tailored parts of the tour just for us. He gave us a personal, thoughtful tour of all the major sites and, through his guidance, helped us truly feel both the somberness and significance of the area while still making the experience exciting for both of us. It was meaningful, unforgettable, and a total blast.
....I am happy our 💯 th review is yours:). I really enjoyed our tour together. All the best Thierry
No other words than AMAZING! A private tour via motorcycle/sidecar made this adventure beyond words can even describe. Touring the countryside less travelled by tourists allowed one to understand the vast landscape covered by ground our troops endured. The detailed explanations of each days events during the invasion was to perfection. As we travelled with two teenagers it even kept them alive!!
Hi Bob, thank you so much for this kind review. Take good care, Manuel
