Itinerary
Your tour begins with a prompt pickup in Le Havre, either directly from the cruise port or your hotel. Situated on the Normandy coast, Le Havre played a pivotal role during World War II, serving as a strategic location in the planning and execution of the D-Day landings. As you depart the city, your guide will share powerful stories about the region’s wartime significance and the heroic efforts of the Allied forces. This scenic drive sets the stage for the impactful history awaiting you at the D-Day Landing sites.
At La Cambe German War Cemetery, you'll gain a unique perspective on the events of D-Day. Set in peaceful surroundings, this solemn site honors the sacrifices made by soldiers on both sides of the conflict. The neatly arranged gravestones serve as a poignant reminder of the heavy toll of war, offering a moment of reflection and respect for those who lost their lives.
At Pointe du Hoc, you’ll stand at one of the most significant locations of the D-Day landings. This cliff, situated between Utah and Omaha Beach, was a key German defense position, with artillery and fortifications that posed a serious threat to the Allies. On June 6, 1944, U.S. Army Rangers courageously scaled these steep cliffs under heavy enemy fire to secure the area, an act of bravery crucial to the success of the Normandy invasion. Today, you can witness the remnants of battle, including bomb craters, damaged bunkers, and a memorial dedicated to the Rangers. Walking through this historic site, you’ll feel the gravity of the events that unfolded here.
Omaha Beach, known as "Bloody Omaha," is a key site in World War II history. It was one of the primary landing zones during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, where Allied forces faced fierce opposition in a battle that played a pivotal role in the success of the larger campaign. Today, the beach serves as a solemn reminder of the courage and sacrifice displayed by those who fought here. As you walk along the sands, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on the profound history and pay your respects. During this stop, you'll be provided a packed lunch for you to enjoy as you take in the significance of the site.
At the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, over 9,000 American soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Normandy invasion rest in peace. As you walk among the rows of white crosses and Stars of David, you’ll be moved by the scale of their sacrifice. Inside the Memorial Chapel, take a moment to reflect and honor the bravery that defined this sacred ground.
As your tour comes to an end, you'll head back to Le Havre, relaxing in the comfort of your transport while enjoying the scenic beauty of Normandy. Reflect on the significance of the D-Day Landing sites and the incredible courage of the American forces. You’ll return to port well before your ship’s departure, ensuring peace of mind. Your guide will offer a warm farewell, leaving you with lasting memories of this meaningful journey.

Great day with Sam our guide was very informative. Plenty of background information about what happened. Lunch was also great. plenty of time at each location. Our driver was also great.
This tour with Vexperio was well organised, presented and executed. Our tour guide (Sam) was very knowledgeable about the events surrounding D Day. He was able to bring together the complex history from WWI to the closure of WWII in a concise and very easy to understand way during our 2.5 hour drive to Omaha. Once on site he continued feed us valuable and insightful information while we toured the War Memorial, beach location, gun emplacements and German memorial site. The tour included a lunch and a taste of French apple cider before we commenced our return journey to Le Havre
Wonderful experience all around!
Sam was our guide and he was unbelievably knowledgeable about the history and details of the area and war. It’s an amazing place, not to be missed. Great overall tour. Highly recommended- we came off the Carnival Legend. They are easy to find, comfortable bus with AC, very friendly and we couldn’t be happier.
The service provided by Sam and the driver was exceptional. The journey was comfortable and seamless, and the driver demonstrated a friendly and helpful demeanor. Sam's expertise and informative approach were particularly noteworthy, as he ensured comprehensive understanding and engagement throughout the experience. I wholeheartedly endorse this tour. The provisions were more then satisfactory and ample. This was an excellent tour. We extend our gratitude to Sam.
Sam was our tour guide (and Luka was our driver). The bus was comfortable, the lunchtime meal was tasty and filling, and most importantly, the tour itself was fantastic. Sam shared hours of information with us, both on the bus and at the sites we visited. And those sites all along the coast of Normandy were well chosen to give a sense of the scope of the historic events that occurred here. Strongly recommend!
This D-Day Beaches excursion was the highlight of our trip. The sites were incredibly moving, and the experience brought history to life in a powerful way. A special thank you to our guide, Bertrand, whose knowledge, passion, and storytelling made the day unforgettable. He shared so many fascinating details and ensured everyone had a meaningful experience. We learned so much and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Normandy.
Our tour guide Bert was fantastic! He really knows his stuff and is passionate about sharing everything that happened on D-Day! A must do!
Great tour and our guide was pleasant, efficient, and knowledgeable.
Ash is an excellent tour guide and is very knowledgeable in the history of Normandy. Lunch would have been nice if it was in the area with tables or given time to go to one of the restaurants there.
Dear Jill, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the tour. Regarding lunch timing, we completely understand your point. As this is an excursion for cruise ship passengers, the schedule is necessarily limited by the ship’s docking hours, which means time on shore must be carefully managed. Unfortunately, this can sometimes restrict longer meal stops or restaurant visits. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you again in the future. Warm regards, Natalia Vexperio
