Description

Enjoy a 5-hour tour to the city of Niteroi. Located in a short distance from downtown Rio, the city is known for its busy harbor, quiet pace, beautiful lookout points and the artwork done by architect Oscar Niemeyer. The easiest way to get there is by crossing the Guanabara Bay – which can be done by car through the Rio-Niterói Bridge. This path is already a tourist attraction as it allows you to have a panoramic city view of Rio de Janeiro. We visit the famous sites, such as the Teatro Popular, the Fundação Oscar Niemeyer, the Memorial Roberto Silveira, the Praça JK and the Centro Petrobras de Cinema Brasileiro, The highlight of the tour is the Museu de Arte Contemporânea, the MAC. With its interesting and inventive shape, the MAC is considered one of the greatest works done by famous architect Oscar Niemeyer. Tour guide, entrance to the MAC and roundtrip transfer included.

Millene is amazing!

I did and learned more about Rio (and Brazil) in 1 tour with her than I have my entire 3 days in Rio. She has made me a true believer in Brazilian culture, history, and language! Because of her local knowledge and cultural understanding, I am so eager to come back to Rio. She is more than a tour guide, she is a cultural gem and I was so lucky to have her show me Niteroi!

Trip to Niterói with our beloved guide Monica

If you decided to visit Rio de Janeiro then Niterói city which is right next door is a MUST. Especially with a guide like Monica who made our experience unbelievable. There are so many beautiful work of arts as well as architectural masterpieces designed by Oscar Niemeyer which absolutely need to be visited. Finally, the view of Rio from its facing neighbouring city is one of a kind. However not sure that this trip would be the same without our guide Monica!

We would love to have a guide whom know better about the architecture

The tour was fine, we visited the most important places in Niteroi, but the tour guide doesn't really knew a lot about the architecture of Niemeyer, something that was important for us, since was the main reason to go to Niteroi

Private Tour of Niterói Architecture Highlights - A Must When in Rio

If you appreciate architecture and art, this is an interesting and educational tour. Our guide, Monica, was phenomenal! On the drive to Niterói she gave us a history of Rio which was informative and entertaining. Once in Niterói, we toured several Oscar Niemeyer constructions with the highlights being the buildings of Caminho Niemeyer and the Museo de Arte Contemporanea. The museum (currently, Feb ‘25) has an exhibition on Rio Carnival which was excellent and Monica was even able to answer the many questions we had about the event. To wrap up, Monica gave us a choice in what to see last and after lots of modern architecture we decided to go more traditional and visit Jambiero Manor, the home of a wealthy family from the late 1800’s, completely covered in tiles. This was a great private tour (4 hours in total which felt just right) to balance out our beach time in Rio. Book it!
