The organisors have packed so much into this tour you wont be twiddling your thumbs for a minute and we loved all of it. Mua Cave was a highlight and the bicycle ride. Lynch was delicious and well catered for vegetarian. Our tour guide was Phong and he was outstanding, organised, detailed, Enthusiastic, funny and well versed in history. On his oWn he looks after us and never stopped smiling for almost 12 hours. He went out of his way to commUnicate with non english speakers and his english was amazing. He made this tour evEn more spectacular, thanks Phong.
Have a nice excursion, Excellent Price quality ratio. Visit a temple with information by the guide Yvan. Quality catering. Nice bike ride then beautiful boat ride.
We were picked up from Old Quarter in a good vehicle. Went to Hoa lu, the ancient capital. Nice historic place. Enjoyed it even though the climate was super hot. A sumptuous buffet lunch made as filled and relaxed. We headed to Tam Coc for a 90 minute boat ride through a pristine river. Passed under three caves. A wonderful experience! Finished the tour with a 5km cycling through the village. Special thanks to our tour guide Key.
We are French and we booked this tour. The bus trip is around 2,5 hours. We were pick up at 8am in our hotel in old quarter and we had a lunch around 12:30 am. We had again a short 20 mn trip and arrived to the boat station. We took a tiny boat plus rawer for a wonderful cruise. The landscape (mostly mountains) were so green and the place so quit even if there were many little boats. I took some wonderful pictures. Right after, we took a bike for a 40mn tour on the little roads of the village. Note : some people left our tour and overnight inside this village. This is maybe a good idea. So, we enjoyed this tour and we really recommend it.
An interesting and visit to the old capital of Hoa Lu with a knowledgeable guide, and a peaceful ride on small boats of 2 passengers each down the river at Tam Coc, with a fun bicycle ride around a village after that. The road trips were in very nice and comfortable small buses. However the buffet lunch was not great.
Amazing experience and wonderful day and fantastic guides!!!! Idyllic place to spend a day touring fantastic places in Vietnam!!!! Amazing!!!

We took this tour on Saturday, October 13th, 2018. The guide said we could call him Sam. He was a very charismatic, likeable young man with a lot of potential, but sadly, he was a terrible guide. He talked about his love life - which was okay as an introductory aside, but then told us nothing about the sights we were passing, the history of where we were going, or the amazing geography we were seeing. He failed to point out where toilets were located even when asked, and we paid to use a very dirty toilet about 5 minutes before arriving at the place where we had lunch that had large, clean, modern restrooms because we had no idea when or if another bathroom break would occur. What could have been a very nice day, was mostly boring and long because the guide was so inadequate. He slept on the way back to Hanoi, then dumped us out about 12 - 14 blocks from our hotel at the end of the day in spite of the tour description stating hotel pickup and return. The guide told us to ask the locals how to find our hotel. After 35 minutes of feeling lost and abandoned, thanks to the help of some policemen and a couple of street vendors, we finally found our hotel, but the fear and frustration of having to do so after an 11-hour tour was maddening. I have taken tours booked through Viator all over the world, and nearly all have been excellent, but this one was a disaster.

As other reviewers have stated, the food is not great, but there is plenty of it. The activities were okay, but would have been so much better if we had known what we were seeing and experiencing.

The tour up the River Tam Coc in a rowing boat with it‘s 3 caves is an experience of absolute beauty ! You take about 2 hours on the slowly moving rowing boat and the landscapes that this tour offers are amazing! 2 hours drive up from Hanoi and 2 additionnal hours for returning to Hanoi are FULLY justified by the 2 hours that you spend on the Tam Coc River (= „the river of the three caves“). The caves are, in fact, nothing leaving you wordless - but interestingly cut up and entertain during that rowing boat trip through amazing natural beauty. Don‘t forget to tipp the people who are rowing the boats - it must be a hard job...! Back to the departing point of the boats, numerous (good quality and cheap) restaurants give you the possibility to regain forces for the trip back to Hanoi... In our opinion, Tam Coc River counted among the most appreciated highlights (with SO MANY OTHERS) in Vietnam !

Fantastic tour of the ancient capital and the river ride through the three caves. Do get a photo taken by a photographer...its cheap. And don't forget to buy a Vietnamese cane hat

The surroundings of the ruins of the ancient capital Hoa Lu and its still very well preserved remains contain an indiscipherable beauty, it is difficult to find such a place. They carry a camera and filmmaker will use it piecemeal, the mountains that surround it transform it into a unique place. The buildings in very good condition are magnificent. Don't miss it, visit it and you'll always remember it. Tam Coc is another must-see place.
