Itinerary
Your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour from your knowledgeable guide through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our Musher’s Camp™ in Dyea. Next, hop into our specialized unimog for an exciting ride up our rugged mountain road, surrounded by glacially fed streams and waterfalls. At the top, your musher will greet you with a custom-designed wheeled summertime sled and a team of very excited Alaskan Huskies! Feel the power of these strong dogs as they whisk you down a mile-long, zig-zagging trail deep in the Tongass National Rainforest! After meeting your dog team, climb back into your unimog and enjoy the adventurous ride to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea tidal flats. Depending on the month you just might see eagles, bears, seals, horseback riders, wild flowers, and of course snow-capped mountains. Your unimog will then bring you to what we like to call a “Kennel Talk.” We have been sharing our passion for dog sledding for years, and in that time we have gathered up the most frequently ask questions about the sport. In the Kennel Talk, we will share the fascinating answers and welcome any additional questions you may have. Of course, we make sure you have plenty of time to play with our puppies! Your affections actually socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success. A crackling fire and a unique gift shop round out your visit. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting!

Was so much fun and a great experience
It was one of the best part of our Alaskan cruise. All the members of our family of different ages thoroughly enjoyed the one of a kind adventure. The tour staff were really nice and excited about what they were doing, and of course the hands on experience with the dogs made it the best!
Loved this excursion! Staff was friendly & knowledgeable. Views from the lookout were outstanding. The pups were lovable! I would highly recommend!
We did this sled dog tour in Skagway and it was a lot of fun. Lou was our tour guide and gave us a lot of information. The whole crew care so much about these dogs and we got to hold a puppy! I highly recommend this company.
We enjoyed the dog sledding and petting the sled dogs and pups. I liked hearing about the history of dog sledding. It’s one of those activities that you can say you have done. I wouldn’t do it a second time.
This was the perfect excursion for our family with our two kids ages 2 1/2 and 6 1/2. It’s about a 35 minute shuttle ride from the port so it isn’t too long and you get to experience a lot of different elements between writing in the slide with the 16 dogs, pulling you, meeting the dogs, learning about the history of the Iditarod and snuggling puppies. Our kids had a blast, and it was beautiful as well as informative. There is a little shop at the end where you can buy commemorative things and some chips, but otherwise make sure you bring snacks. We had Houston as our guide who was awesome, especially with our kids, and Ethan was our sled guide. Absolutely would recommend!
We had a great time at this tour! The ride on the dog sled was very fun and of course playing with the puppies. Also learning about the history of the race and the dogs was very cool! I would definitely recommend this excursion to anyone travelling to Skagway.
Such a cute operation! Only complaint is that I would have liked more time at base camp to explore the shops. Great experience all around.
Amazing experience for all ages. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Dog sleds, holding adorable puppies, riding through the beautiful forest, hot cocoa, popcorn and more!
Totally amazing day with sled dogs, driver took us from port to musher camp and he was super informative and funny, Handsome Rob was his name, a credit to the business!. First stop at musher camp was a sled dog run through the forest. Dog runner was amazing guy who clearly loved his dogs and running them. After this we had an informative young girl tell us about the sled dog races and loping after dogs, we met a couple of lovely retired dogs, then some 7 month old pups and then the most amazing group of 9 week old pups🥰. All in a totally fabulous day I can’t recommend enough run by a lovely group of people who are clearly passionate about what they do! Thank you!
