Itinerary

Pass by

You’d be hard-pressed to find vistas as stunning as these. At the western end of the Gorge, the view from Crown Point is a front-row seat to the mighty Columbia as its unfurls and cuts through the Cascade mountains. From there dozens of awe-inspiring waterfalls spill from basalt cliffs, lining the Historic Columbia River Highway, like famous Multnomah, Horsetail, Bridal Veil and Latourell falls. The landscape seems to grow bigger, grander and brighter as it rolls east.

Admission included15 min

The view is absolutely breathtaking and it's one of the best spots to soak in a view of one of the most beautiful places on earth: the magnificent, awesome Columbia River Gorge.

20 min

The Vista House was built in 1917 on one of the most beautiful scenic points on the Historic Columbia River Highway. It was constructed to provide travelers a place to rest and refresh themselves as they made their way down the magnificent Columbia River Gorge.

15 min

Latourell Falls is a gorgeous waterfall that has the distinction of being the closest major waterfall of the Columbia River Gorge to the City of Portland. It possesses remarkable overhanging columnar basalt cliffs that allowes Latourell Creek to do a 249ft free-falling plunge with no contact with most of the underlying cliff, making it in one of the more unique such waterfalls in the gorge.

15 min

The 242-foot falls is a tiered type of waterfall, named after the Yakama word for "most beautiful". While not as tall as nearby Multnomah, it is no less lovely. We will stop here as parking and timing allows.

Pass by

As we journey through the town of Bridal Veil, we encounter a place rich in history. Once the heart of a bustling lumber industry that thrived in the Columbia Gorge, this quaint town now hosts a small post office and a serene nunnery, along with other quaint attractions.

15 min

Named for its characteristic form, Horsetail Falls plunges 176 feet within view of the Historic Columbia River Highway's "Waterfall Corridor".

30 min

A waterfall as magnificent and memorable as any in the country is located just a 30- minute drive outside of Portland. Visiting Multnomah Falls, a 611-foot-tall roaring, awe-inspiring cascade of icy water, lets you experience the power and beauty of nature up close and with ease. Our visit will feature a trip up to the iconic Benson Bridge and a stop at the gift shop. However, please note that the hike to the top of the waterfall is quite long and steep, so it will not be part of this tour.

Health and Hydration: Tours can be physically demanding. Stay hydrated and carry any necessary medications; plan for breaks when needed. What to Do if Lost: If you get separated from the group, do not panic. Stop walking and wait right where you are. Call our tour company phone. For emergency call 911. Walking on Uneven Terrain: • Technique • Scan the path: Look ten feet ahead. Do not just look at your feet. • Short steps: Take small, slow steps. • Flat feet: Place your whole foot down. Do not just walk on your toes or heels. • Go slow uphill & downhill Safety & Hazards • Watch for water: Wet rocks, moss, and mud are very slick. Walk around them if you can. • Never run: Speed causes trips and twisted ankles. Snow & Ice: • Don’t cross in front of snow removal equipment (snow blowers, plows, etc.). It’s safer to cross behind. • Observe extreme caution when entering and exiting vehicles. Warm soles on compact snow/ice increase the risk of slip/falls. Use the vehicle for support. • Watch out for black ice, wet floors/stairways and overhead/ falling hazards (icicles or snow/ice on sloping roofs and in trees). • Never attempt to drive or walk on carpet, tile, stone, or ceramic surfaces while wearing Yaktrax. Take them off before driving or entering a building! Plants and Animals: Do not touch any plants or animals. Touching them is dangerous for you and for them. Animals carry germs and diseases. Plants can cause rashes or allergic reactions. • Do not approach or follow wildlife for a “better look.” • Observe wildlife from a distance so they are not scared or forced to flee. • You are too close if your presence or actions cause wildlife to alter their normal habits. Water: Never drink raw mountain water. Even clear streams hide dangerous bacteria, viruses, and parasites like Giardia. Animals use the water upstream, and you cannot see germs. Drinking raw water can cause severe diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration. Always keep your valuables with you. We are not responsible for any loss of personal items.

Incredible despite the smoke from the Spokane fires

Well narrated by our guide, Phoebe. She adjusted the order due to the smoke from wildfires to gain a bit of view from Vista point and put in extra falls, SheppardDell. Plus driving, of course. Kudos! Falls were gorgeous and it was a lovely 1/2 day trip from Portland. One area of improvement, let us know pick up time the night before please. Please respect your guests time. Might have had a late flight or day out and being able to plan a quarter hour or half hour more sleep or breakfast on well earned trip would be basic courtesy.

Great views of waterfalls and the Gorge

We stopped at three large waterfalls and drove by two smaller ones. We also stopped at the Vista House for an overall view of the Columbia Gorge. We rode on some interesting roads and our guide, Gunner, was a very good driver with a good sense of humor and story telling ability.

Tour Cut Short

Our waterfall tour was scheduled for a Friday morning. Our guide was nice and knowledgeable but rushed through the tour and did not stop at 3 of the 15 minute stops that were listed in the itinerary, 2 of the waterfalls and the Portland Women’s scenic viewpoint.

Guide was enthusiastic...

Guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, but she was forced to compress what should have been a longer tour into roughly 3 1/2 hours. Seemed like we were rushed---would have liked to spend more time at each stop.

Operator response

We're glad you enjoyed the tour and our efforts to make it special; consider joining us for another adventure!
