The mud volcano and pink sea stops were interesting sites, but felt rushed. We spent a long time at lunch (delicious!) which was surprising after being rushed through other locations. Tour guide answered questions about sites but did not proactively share much info besides logistics. The van used was full of people (13 across several parties) but it seemed new and the AC was working. Related to existing tip comments: tour guide instructed us to pool tips at mud volcano. Locals asked for tips but left us alone after we said we contributed to the pool of tips. If using hotel pickup, tour guide sends a message the morning of to confirm location and timing. We needed to bring cash for tip (and optionally, drinks at lunch), swimsuit, and towel.
The tour guide/driver were excellent, prompt pickup and good explanation of the itinerary. The volcano tour was great, and the tour allows you to pool tips for the volcano workers so you don't have to remember everyone. They were not super pushy either as some have experienced. The salt flats were not pink and haven't been for almost a year, so beware of that. But still a cool thing to see. The lunch and beach club were really good! Enjoyed a couple of hours in the pool, hammocks, and beach after lunch.
Have a nice excursion to the mud volcano and the beach. Contrary to my reservation I did not see the pink sea.
This was such a fun and unique experience. The day was nicely paced, with clear portions of the trip that kept it interesting the whole way through. Starting at the Pink Sea was a great way to ease into the day. It was really interesting learning why the water turns pink, and we had time to walk around, take photos, and enjoy the area without feeling rushed. After that, heading to the mud volcano was a completely different experience in the best way. Floating in the warm mud was surprisingly relaxing and a nice chance to slow down and unwind. The contrast between the calm, spa-like feeling of the volcano and the openness of the Pink Sea made the tour feel well balanced. Overall, the tour was well organized, easy to follow, and a great mix of sightseeing and relaxation. Definitely a memorable day and one I’d recommend if you want to see a different side of the region.
Yuliana, our guide, was very professional and informative. We enjoyed the tour of the salt museum. It was disappointing that the pink sea wasn't pink this time of year, but still a great experience. Lunch is La Boquilla was great. The beach was lovely. The mud volcano was fun and washing it out in the water was an experience in and of itself. You have the option of tipping in a bag to benefit the group or tip individually. It got a little akward because we chose to put our tip in the bag. The ladies that helped removed the mud were waiting for an individual tip. All and all a great experience and I would definitely do it again.
No pink sea, no five stars. We wouldn’t have booked this trip if we knew the sea would not be pink. That was half of the draw to this trip.
we loved that hotel pick up and lunch was included as the exploring started around 8:45/9 so by the time you get to the volcano you’re quite hungry. It was a lovely day! We loved the fact that we got to leave the city for a bit to visit a smaller town and see local life! The Ethnoindustrial museum was one of our fave parts as we love history! It was a cool tidbit to learn about! The pink sea was sadly not pink but the atmosphere and coast were so beautiful! We dipped our toes in for a few seconds as the salt content is very high but it was so refreshing and clear! I love how this part of Cartageña is mainly for local access and monitored by your groups because it’s a lovely piece of land solely for locals:) the volcano was magic! I didn’t think you’d float up like that but you do! It was so cool and we met some fun people in our tour group that were so nice to be around:) I felt so relaxed after, I slept on the ride back to the city! The lunch break was at a gorgeous restaurant with lovely food! We for sure recommend this:) it was one of our favourite parts of our trip! Please be patient with the tour group as there is hotel pick up included meaning not everyone will always be punctual:) but the tour guide was lovely and v insightful!
The whole trip was amazing!! I enjoyed everything about it from the museum, to the seaside stop (I wish the sea was pink lol), and the mud volcano
I booked this tour excited to see the Pink Sea. It also included the mud bath. Well, we got the mud bath, and then a couple hours for lunch and a swim at the Cocoa Beach hotel in Playa Boquilla. We didn't go near Salinas of Galerazamba. We were to go there to see the Pink Sea. We knew that we could not go in to swim, but we're to be able to view it. When I questioned the tour guides, they said they hadn't done that part of the tour in 3 years!! I am extremely disappointed, as this was the only reason we booked this tour!!! To be fair, the mud bath was fun, but not the reason we booked. Alot of money was spent to be cheated out of the experience we expected!! I don't know why Trip Advisor would advertise this as a Pink Sea tour, when it's not even included. I would request a partial refund for the false advertising, but there's no option for that!
Amazing experience. Yuliana took excellent care of us. Picked us up at our apartment building and we were together with another family. Pink sand tour and museum was great. Star of the show was the mud volcano. We had our own changing rooms and showers plus someone to take our shoes and phones when we went in. We also had a great guy who took loads of amazing photos. After carefully climbing down the volcano steps we made our way to the lagoon where ladies will take you and give you a thorough cleaning. Of course you have to tip everyone but for that experience it’s absolutely worth it. Plus the lunch after was delicious.
