Itinerary
Ride the Lake Kawaguchi Panoramic Gondola. Take a trip to Lake Kawaguchi Kachikachi. Take the mountain cable car and enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the way. The Observatory, located at an altitude of 1,075 metres, offers a panoramic view of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. If the weather is good, you can even see the Southern Alps. On top of the mountain, there is a bell tower called "The Bell of Heaven". It is said that as long as you ring it, your wishes will come true. Inspired by the story of Osamu Dazai, the gondolas and observation decks of the cable car are decorated with tanuki and bunny dolls, and anyone is welcome to check in and take photos. The cable car at the top of Mt. Amagami and Mt. Kachikachi takes about 3 minutes to reach the observation deck at an altitude of 1,075 metres, where you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi.. On clear days, you can also see the Southern Alps, such as Mount Akaashi and Mount Arakawa.
Kachikachi Mountain Cable Car at Lake Kawaguchi (approximately 90 minutes, cable car fee included) Lake Kawaguchi is located at an altitude of 830 meters, with an area of 5.7 square kilometers. The shoreline is winding and intricate, and there are numerous excellent viewpoints along the shore for gazing at Mount Fuji. Here, you can capture the stunning and magnificent reflection of Mount Fuji in the lake water. Kachikachi Mountain Cable Car at Lake Kawaguchi: Weekdays Operating Hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (last descent at 4:20 PM) Extended Hours on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (last descent at 5:20 PM) *Note: The cable car may be suspended due to strong winds, lightning, or other reasons. (This is a complimentary activity. If the cable car cannot be operated due to weather conditions, the itinerary will be changed to a visit to the Sengoku Warrior Boat by Lake Kawaguchi or the ticket fees will be refunded.)
Lake Kawaguchi Matcha Experience (approximately 60 minutes) Due to traffic jams or other force majeure situations, the overall duration of the matcha experience may be shortened. Lake Kawaguchi is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and is the lake with the lowest elevation and the longest shoreline in the Fuji Five Lakes. The cherry blossoms in spring, tulips in summer, and autumn leaves transform the scenery throughout the seasons. You can freely stroll along the lakeshore and fully appreciate the views of Mount Fuji. Here, you can add a matcha experience, learn to make matcha with a local teacher, and enjoy a cup to truly experience Japanese culture. The ultimate state of the tea ceremony, "Ichi-go Ichi-e," is a term that has evolved from Japanese tea culture. In the tea ceremony, it means that the tea master will entertain each guest with the utmost sincerity, cherishing the rare opportunity to meet, as it may only happen once in a lifetime.
Oishi Park at Lake Kawaguchi (approximately 30 minutes) Every summer, the lavender in Oishi Park by Lake Kawaguchi blooms profusely, covering the park in a purple velvet blanket that complements the view of Mount Fuji, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene. In autumn, the broom grass (kochia) in the park turns a bright red, becoming fluffy and particularly adorable. This park also serves as the location for the Lake Kawaguchi Herb Festival. (Lavender from June to July, crabapple and zinnia from July to September, and kochia in October)
Oshino Hakkai—The “Jiuzhaigou” at the Foot of Mount Fuji (approximately 60 minutes) Oshino Hakkai (1 hour) The term "Oshino Hakkai" refers to eight clear springs formed by the snowmelt from Mount Fuji, which has filtered through the ground layers. Oshino Hakkai is renowned for its beautiful natural environment. The water in the ponds shimmers, blending harmoniously with the picturesque Mount Fuji to create a breathtakingly beautiful scene that has attracted countless photographers from far and wide to capture its beauty. Oshino Hakkai is designated as a Natural Monument by the Japanese government.

Unfortunately it was cloudy and it was not possible to see the mountain. Of course, it is not the tour operator's fault. The cable car was closed, so we got a boat trip instead. It wasn't anything special. Got the opportunity to buy food, it was very overpriced. Avoid it. What was supposed to be a guided tour, was a driver who drove us to the places that were listed. No more information. Pick up from the hotel worked well. Mutcha tealaging was good.

We had a great day on the Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi tour! Even though we couldn't do the ropeway because it was closed for maintenance, the tour company arranged a scenic boat ride on Lake Kawaguchi instead, which was a lovely alternative with beautiful views. Our tour guide, Sia, was fantastic. She was incredibly friendly, informative, and made the day so enjoyable. She shared lots of interesting information throughout the tour and was always happy to take photos for everyone, which we really appreciated. One of our favourite parts of the day was trying the ice cream at one of the stops—it was absolutely delicious! The lunch was also amazing just needed to remember to have cash. Overall, the tour was well organised, the scenery was stunning, and we had a wonderful experience. We'd definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Japan!
It was a cloudy day so we were unable to see the mountain or ride the gondola. The boat ride on lake kawaguchi was an ok alternative but the gondola would have been better. Our lunch was at a restaurant, pre-booked by the tour and was pretty good. I would have preferred to eat at the park with the springs. They had more options to choose from. Overall, a nice day but we will have to come back on a less cloudy day to see the full glory of the Mt. Fuji.
Leo was a great guide. He was full of knowledge and made the trip very enjoyable We especially liked the fact that we didn't have to walk miles and there was plenty of time of souvenir hunting
My brother and I visited Japan in February and loved our day trip to Mt. Fuji and the bus tour around the surrounding lakes. The cable car ride was amazing and gave us fantastic views of the area, the lakes, and Mt. Fuji itself. A special shout-out to our guide, Laner, who was brilliant. She was knowledgeable about the local area, culture, and history, spoke fluent Japanese, Chinese, and English, and even organised a lovely lunch for the whole group. According to Laner, we were very lucky with the views we managed to enjoy, as there was only around a one-in-three chance that the mountain would be clearly visible. The stop at the traditional village with its natural spring water was also fascinating, and it was great to see the traditional Japanese thatched houses. Thank you for helping make this an unforgettable trip!
Keiko was a very good tour guide, she made sure everyone was safe and well informed about meet up times and gave clear instructions. Highly recommend!
Tour was good, easy to locate meeting point and Laner the guide was really great. Ensuring good. Comms regarding meeting locations and timings etc. As well as sharing knowledge regarding Mt Fuji. She also made extra effort to help us with photos.
A great day out - beautiful scenery and Laner Jin was an excellent guide - I would recommend this tour
A really lovely and organized experience. Easy to do for all ages. We were fortunate to have a clear view of Mount Fuji at a latter point during the tour! Also, our tour guide, Sia, was kind and helpful. I will flag that the shuttle bus doesn’t have a bathroom, but at least the longest we went without stopping was about two hours. Overall, I highly recommend!!
Traffic jam was unbelievable. Took 3+ hours to go and 4+ hours back. Spent 10 minutes on the ropeway and had to head back down on the cable car because of the long line going up and back down. In total we spent a bit over an hour for macha culture, Lawson store, Oishi park and Ropeway. We stopped for lunch (not included in price and quality is mediocre) which lasted 40 minutes; waited 45 mins for the cable car at the lake and skipped Oshino Hakkai. It was a total disappointment and bad experience.
Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. I’m truly sorry to hear that the heavy traffic and long waiting times turned what should have been an enjoyable trip into a disappointing one. Please accept our sincere apologies for the frustration and inconvenience caused. That said, we would like to welcome you and any future customers who are considering joining our tours. For potential guests reading this: we take all feedback seriously and are continuously working to improve the flow of our itineraries, especially during peak travel seasons.
