This is not the typical local cooking class, this was intimate, in her lovely kitchen where we cooked together after having gone to the markets to buy all fresh ingredients. We prepared the food, we waited, drank mint tea and listened to Murad ( the best translator) play gnawa music and guitar. Then we shared the meal together on her terrace. How beautiful, authentic, lovely and generous this was. Thank you Fadhila and Murad for an unforgettable experience. We have truly loved your beautiful country and people.
This is SO worth it! I had such a fun time in my cooking class and learned how to cook a real tagine. My host met me right on time; she asked me what I wanted to cook, then we went out and bought the ingredients fresh from the market in Chefchaouen. We went back to her guesthouse and cooked in a beautiful little kitchen on the rooftop with a view over the city and mountains; the lovely cook showed me how to prepare the dish while my host translated. We then sat and ate dinner together. It was DELICIOUS! Also, I was really grateful that I could go on my own, as some places don't allow solo travellers. This was totally worth the money and it was the best thing I did in Chefchaouen!
An absolutely unforgettable moment in Chefchaouen! This cooking workshop was much more than just a class: a real immersion in local culture. We started with a tour of the market with Lahkdar, our passionate and incredibly interesting guide. He introduced us to local products, culinary habits and shared many anecdotes. We then cooked two delicious tagines in a friendly atmosphere, before having dinner together. Lahkdar not only taught us how to cook, he also told us the story of the country, Chefchaouen and its region, as well as aspects of daily life. A real moment of exchange and sharing. To top it all off, he even played us music, making this experience even more warm and authentic. A complete, rewarding and human experience that I highly recommend to all those who visit Chefchaouen!
Our cooking experience with Salwa was amazing! We loved every minute and had such a laugh. The food was incredible
We had the most amazing experience with Salwa, Maroud and their family. Authentic Moroccan cooking with friendly company was a highlight of our Chefchaouen experience. Would highly recommend!
Great experience! Especially due to the fact that it's about the whole experience. You decide what you want to cook and before you start, you'll go shopping at local shops for your food. Preparing and cooking go hand in hand, plus you'll eat with other guests and the hosts too. This is not in cooking in a hotel, this is cooking at their home. Highly recommend experience!
We did the cooking experience and really enjoyed learning about Moroccan cuisine, spices, and the cooking process with Mourad and his team. They were warm, welcoming, and made us feel like part of the family. We ended the experience by sharing the meal together, which made it even more special. It’s also a fantastic family-friendly activity. If you’re in Chefchaouen, I’d highly recommend them for cooking classes and any other experiences, as they know the area very well.
Mourat, Laghdar and family will make you absolutely feel at home. While going to the market, cooking, and having diner we also learned a lot about Chefchaouen and it's history. We spend time in their wonderful family home that has been in their family for generations long, enjoying Geana music by both. Also, we now know the secrets of how to make the best Tajine dish! The best experience we had during our visit to Morocco. Don't miss out on this :)
Cooking class was wonderful. The familiy is very, very welcoming. They are very enthusiastic about telling about their history and culture, about the food and ingredients, about what makes chefchouen so special besides being blue. The local market visit was very refreshing, and there was lots of fun and interesting talks with the local sellers. After picking the ingredients, the cooking was fun and the meal was lovely. The place itself was very beautiful.
Fantastic experience, excellent company and guidance and both tajines were delicious!
