Itinerary
In the morning, your 4WD coach picks you up from the Gold Coast or Brisbane, then travels to the ferry to Moreton Island. During the 75-minute ferry ride across Moreton Bay, take in views from the deck or cabin, keep an eye out for dolphins and other marine life. When you reach the island, your 4WD-vehicle drives along the sand to the Tangalooma Wrecks where you have several options for beachside fun. Follow your guide on a snorkeling tour of the famous shipwrecks; the 15 vessels were purposely sunk here to create a breakwall. This resulting reef is home to colorful corals, tropical fish, trevally, yellowtail, wobbegong, kingfish and more. If snorkeling doesn’t appeal to you, use the provided transparent bodyboards to paddle in search of turtles, reef fish, coral and other critters, or simply relax on the white-sand beach. After the snorkel tour, your guide serves a picnic lunch before leading a tour on transparent kayaks to explore the Tangalooma Wrecks. Stay dry as you view an amazing array of fish right below your kayak. (Please note that a 4WD tour around the island will replace the snorkeling and kayaking if conditions are unfavorable). Next, hang on tight as your driver takes your 4WD on rough inland tracks to tall sand dunes that are ideal for sandboarding, a fun, high-adrenaline activity comparable to tobogganing. It is possible to reach speeds of up to 30 mphr (50 kph) as you zip down the dunes. After sandboarding, return to the coast and enjoy a swim at Tangalooma Beach (if time allows). Then catch the ferry back to the mainland and reach Brisbane or the Gold Coast in the evening.

Awesome experiance. All thanks to Jules, Darren and Josh for making it memorable. Highle recommended.
Very memorable day! In a 3-week trip down under this was my favorite trip. Do be prepared to spend a lot of the time in transit but it is an offshore island. Writing this review mostly to give shout outs to the GUIDES - Kyle and Jason (I think?), I don't know how they wrangled such a mixed group of swimmers out there around the wrecks but they were incredible! Not sure why non-swimmers would even sign up to snorkle off shore but these guys did everything great - kept things moving along and everyone was very safe at all times. Instructions and directions were clear and they had a great handle on a large, mixed ability group of visitors for all three activities. To the company - time to put some of that money back into your gear - replace your worn out (shredded wetsuits) equipment and gear please! Overall excellent trip.
Sunset Safaris trip to Moreton Island was well worth it! Our tour guides were great and kept a close eye on everyone making it feel safe. The overall feel of the trip was lively and fun. My favorite part was the sand boarding and my wifes was the snorkeling.
The Moreton Island day trip was absolutely spectacular! Snorkeling around the Tangalooma wrecks was an unforgettable experience—the sunken ships have transformed into thriving coral reefs, surrounded by an incredible variety of fish. It was every bit as impressive as our Great Barrier Reef experience. Sandboarding was another highlight, racing down the steep dunes at speeds of up to 30 km/h—it was such a thrill! From start to finish, the day exceeded all expectations. A huge thank you to Liam and Josh, who were friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. Their enthusiasm and great service made an already amazing day even better. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this tour!
The tour guides were very knowledgeable and extremely approachable as well. Liam was a great guide and helped when we were stuck. The guided snorkelling was unbelievable and it was definitely the highlight of the tour! Safety was also a major priority at all times, ensuring that everyone understood and upheld the safety standards! 10/10 experience!!
Experience was a lot of fun! Sandboarding in the dunes of Moreton was a very cool experience and the kyaking with transparent kyaks with fish swimming underneath was really amazing.Moreton is beautiful. But It was very expensive for what you get. The ferry and entrance to the park is additional to the cost of the tour, so it makes the day very costly. Lunch was pretty good (chicken wraps but just water to drink). The guides were great. Unfortunately the fin cost just outweighs the experience for a ROI.
We had such a fun time exploring Morton Island. The tour guides Scotty and Jacob were amazing and so helpful. Keith the bus driver was also great helped us see a bit of Brisbane. Honestly one of the highlights of our trip and could not recommend this more!
Great day on the island, loved all the activities especially the snorkeling around the wrecks and the flood of fish. Great crew of guides.
Keith, Jacob and Josh were all so welcoming. They made sure everyone was ready and comfortable with each experience. This was my favorite excursion I have done with Viator. Jacob was very personable and got to know us during the day! It was like being with family!! For future adventurers: CLOSE your mouth when going down the sand dunes!!!!
Really lovely setting and a smooth boat ride. Catering was great. The snorkelling, kayaking and desert dunes trip was great, with lots of fish. The hosts weren't the most hospitable, in particular the guide who got in the water with us snorkeling I asked one of them a question on the barge trip over and he was not happy about it, and every other time I said something to him it seemed it was some sort of inconvenience. My wetsuit hadn't been washed and was full of sand and soaking wet (for some reason they don't dry their wetsuits inside out). When I asked where the toilet was the guide answered me like I was stupid. An amazing day seeing all the sights but their customer service needs to be brought up to scratch.
