Description

Montserrat Natural Park is located 50 kms away from Barcelona. We get there enjoying the amazing and UNIque views from our fully equipped private transportation. The first place we will visit in Montserrat’s Natural Park is its Benedictine Monastery, first built on the 11th century and home to Catalonia’s Patroness Saint, The Black Madonna of Montserrat which is a strong symbol of spirituality and unity for the local people. Once we have visited the Monastery area, we hike up to the top, from where we will enjoy the breath-taking views of the Natural Park and most of the territory. During the hike we walk on the same paths used by pilgrims hundreds of years ago, we will get inspired by Montserrat’s fascinating flora and fauna and we will also hike on UNIque ways where rocky pillars and ravines show us how inner mysterious water emerge from the hidden and undiscovered very center of the massif. Back down in the Monastery, we have some free time before we head back to Barcelona.

To be added to your to-do list

Incredible experience! Upon our arrival at the clearly indicated meeting point, our guide immediately took charge of us. During the transport, he took the time to talk to us about many topics concerning Barcelona, its culture, its history, and its practices. Once we arrived at Montserrat, the view was breathtaking! The visit to the monastery was also incredible. We walked along a trail that lasted about 2 hours. The guide accompanied us the whole way while continuing his relevant remarks. Afterward, we enjoyed a moment alone to explore the local shops more deeply, and we were able to taste local products from a farmer's market - delicious! In short, there are beautiful viewpoints everywhere you look. I highly recommend the activity to everyone. If you enjoy learning more about the cities/countries you visit and like a little challenge with beautiful visual surprises, make your reservation!

A good trip to Montserrat to get a feel for it's history.

Was a lovely trip to a very beautiful setting. We saw the essential, learned of the history of the monastery and hermitages and had an enjoyable funicular ride up the mountain and a nice walk down. Our guide was interesting, knowledgeable and very friendly although his English was a bit hard to understand at times.

An experience not to be missed just a step away from Barcelona!

On Sunday, May 10, we spent a wonderful half day in Montserrat. Our guide, Frank, was truly exceptional: knowledgeable, kind, and very professional. We left early in the morning with their minivan from near Casa Batlló and reached Montserrat in about an hour. The experience was magnificent from the moment we arrived: early in the morning, the atmosphere was surreal, with the mountains completely enveloped in clouds. After a short break, we visited the basilica, and then began the trek equipped with hats and hiking boots. The path is not particularly difficult, although in some sections it is quite uphill, but every effort is rewarded with truly spectacular views. Upon reaching the top, one can choose whether to descend by funicular or on foot. We are very happy to have followed Frank's advice and returned on foot: we were able to admire unique vegetation and other breathtaking views along the way. In any case, it takes about an hour to ascend and 45 minutes to descend. Frank proved to be a competent, available, and passionate guide. We really had a great time with him. An experience deserving of a 10 and praise that we absolutely recommend!

Family day tour of Monserrat

We had a private tour for our family of 5 with Juan. He was an excellent guide. Juan arrived 5 minutes to pick us up at our hotel in the Gothic Quarter. On the drive from Montserrat Juan provided a history of Barcelona. At Montserrat, he provided a historical summary of the monastery and a lot of information on the natural history of the mountain. We highly recommend Juan as a guide.

Peaceful Hike in Montserrat

Combining a visit to Montserrat monastery with a hike was a perfect half day outing during our week in Barcelona. The tour is very convenient. We met the small group near Casa Batllo in Eixample (about a 20 minute walk from where we were staying) and Uni Tours took care of the rest. Our guide, Juan, was very knowledgable about the area and gave us some history on the 1 hour drive over. He led the group at a great pace but also gave us time to enjoy the gorgeous and inspiring views. The drive home was perfect for a little siesta and we arrived back in Eixample around 3pm refreshed and ready for part 2 of the day. We packed our own lunch but there are places to buy food at Montserrat if you are short on time. I also recommend sneakers with some grip or light hiking shoes/boots for the hike.
