After a safari in Tanzania we travelled on to Zanzibar for 4 days and booked the monkey tour there as a day trip at short notice. The very good German speaking guide, Sadik, showed us at all points of the tour and explained quite exactly what the places are all about. We especially liked the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park there are the monkeys, which are probably the namesake of the tour and the mangroves belonging to the park. We visited the Salaam Cave Aquarium, a cave with sea turtles, but did not bathe with the turtles. It was quite busy despite low season. Kuza Cave is clearly arranged, the highlight is the crystal clear water in which the cave ceiling is reflected. It is also possible to bathe in this cave, the color of the water probably comes through lighting. We were not very enthusiastic about Paje beach, it was quite full of plastic waste that day, uninviting for swimming. The Rock restaurant was the end of the tour. We had reserved a table there for 14:00 and enjoyed delicious grilled Lobster there, also because of the special location the Rock is a recommendation of ours.
The day trip was very nice. We have seen many different places and experienced a lot. The guides were really nice and one of you spoke really good German. He was very patient and always explained everything to us. It's just a pity that the turtles are locked in Salaam Cave and sometimes the visitors don't deal with them so nicely. It's probably all done to protect the animals and yet you're still trying to make a profit everywhere. Otherwise we had a really nice day. Have seen many fish and starfish with a meal at The Rock Restaurant. 👍🏼 Graduating at Kuza Cave was really great.
Absolutely amazing experience - would highly recommend. Our guides were amazing, we had karaoke in the car and the stops were beautiful!
Ilen and Amar, our guide and driver, were awesome! They were very accommodating. We had not eaten breakfast and they took us to a great restaurant on the way. The description for this tour states “visit starfish beach” but it is not a beach. We snorkeled to see the starfish. We were able to hold some though and that was great. We just expected to be on a beach with starfish. The description also says that “snorkeling at blue lagoon is stunning, the island itself is a breeding ground for turtles”. We did not go to an island. Nor did we see turtles or dolphins. The Rock lunch was very delish. Paje beach was very pretty. Just beware that the locals will try to sell you things constantly! They are very pushy. Also the hotels will not serve you drinks or let you use bathrooms unless you are a guest there.
Great experience! With stunning views, I was glad to meet the locals., I would recommend this activity while in Zanzibar.
It was a wonderful day. We were picked up from the hotel on time. Then we went on a boat trip. Here we were able to admire starfish in many bright colors. A unique experience! We had lunch at "The Rock Restaurant", which can only be reached by boat at high tide. The food there was excellent. Then we stopped at the very lively Paje beach. We can highly recommend this trip!
