We went to Udawalawa Safari Park in an evening. We had the opportunity to see a lot of elephants since it was evening. we saw so many of them up close, and it was amazing to watch them in their natural habitat. The park is peaceful and well-preserved, making it a great spot for nature lovers. We also spotted a few beautiful birds along the way. One thing that really stood out to me was the care the safari jeep drivers showed towards the environment. At one point, our driver actually stopped the vehicle, got down, and walked into the forest to pick up a plastic bag someone had thrown. It was a small act, but it really showed how much they care about preserving the park and protecting the animals’ natural habitat. I truly appreciated that. The evening light made the whole landscape look even more stunning, and I’d highly recommend a visit on the evening.
The driver was great and made sure we found animals and had time watching them. The safari started quietly but then we saw crocodiles, mongoose, peacocks, wild boar, water buffalo, bush fowl but the highlight was the encounter we had with a young elephant who interacted with us in the jeep using her trunk. She physically touched us all and it was an unforgettable experience. In general the elephants give surreal encounters.
