This tour was not for us. We visited 3 Michelin star restaurants. The cleanliness of the toilets let the restaurants. The first restaurant we sat across the road there was a cue and food was brought to us which ok. I’ve have copious amounts of Pho and this didn’t meet the what I’ve eaten before. 2nd restaurant the broth was delicious and same with the pork but the cleanliness let it down. They also didn’t use bottled water to make our drinks so we didn’t drink them. The 3rd restaurant the eel was tasteless didn’t this restaurant at all. The 4th restaurant I couldn’t find on the Michelin app the egg pancakes was just ok as I’ve had better in Hanoi. All in all I wouldn’t recommend this tour.
Dear Mrs Sue Kannis, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. We’d like to clarify that this is a Michelin-recommended street food tour, not a visit to Michelin-starred fine dining restaurants. The local eateries we include are family-run stalls and small venues that have been recognized by the Michelin Guide for their authenticity, quality, and popularity—not for luxury or formality. We understand that local street food experiences can be quite different from traditional restaurant dining, especially in terms of setting and environment. We always strive to select vendors that offer clean, safe, and flavorful food, and we regularly visit these spots ourselves to ensure quality. Regarding the use of bottled water and overall cleanliness, we appreciate your feedback and will share it with our partners to see where improvements can be made. That said, many of our past guests have enjoyed the unique flavors and cultural immersion this tour offers, and we’re sorry it didn’t align with your preferences. Thank you again for joining us and for helping us improve. Warm regards, Rose
We had a fantastic evening on the Michelin street food tour. Our guide Tom was very friendly, helpful and catering to our needs. We tried some of the best food around the city!
This trip is a culinary delight! Our guide, April was fun, knowledgeable, and so enthusiastic about helping us navigate the subtleties of Vietnamese food. We also had an intern, Daniel, accompany us, and no doubt he will be an excellent guide in the very near future. If you are looking to discover some of Hanoi’s hidden gems, then book this tour.
Very nice tour to several restaurants. Even though we‘d already spent two weeks in Vietnam, we got to know some new dishes. The guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable
Amazing way to see a city, Tom our guide was fabulous, highly recommend this as a way to explore and taste Hanoi, wonderful food. Tom also brought us to train street which was not on the plan, what an experience.
SITUATION: Booked this food tour on the same day as our arrival. We started a few hours later than planned (1PM instead of 11AM) due to flight delays. Family of five, all food-adventurous adults, and no fatal allergies or food/dietary restrictions. OVERALL: Disappointing. I've been on food tours before, and this one was very different. I would recommend other food tours or just walking around and trying things out for yourself. PROS: - Private tour, just the 5 of us. - Flexible time. I booked for 11AM, but our flight was delayed and we had to rest a bit. HanoiTourTop was okay to start at 1PM instead. - Pace was good! We were not rushed from one place to another. There were food stops we'd rather not go to such as the one with grilled fish, and the guide was ok with that. - Very authentic Vietnamese street food feel. The bun cha was delicious! - For the places the guide took us to, we didn't have to shell out money any more (as stated in the tour inclusions, but sometimes in other food tours this is not followed so I appreciate this) - Guide was helpful in crossing the streets. CONS: - We didn't learn a lot about food culture and Vietnamese cuisine. The tour guide had more trivia about the motorcycle license plates, newspapers, the cost of motorcycles, and the education system. I had questions about the food that he could not answer but maybe it's just a language barrier thing. It would have been nice to know what the strange fruits were, what the people were cooking along the street, what was on the grill, etc. But to be fair, he did have info about where bun cha originated and the origins of egg coffee. - When I saw some interesting street food, we couldn't try it because it wasn't part of the tour. Even if I was willing to pay for it myself. I did get away with buying some interesting street food & fruits from little carts while he wasn't looking hahaha. I don't know if there was a time constraint, since we did finish the tour a bit early. - As we exited a restaurant, I was going to buy a soda from a stall. Some of the food, though delicious, was but a bit too oily and my mouth was feeling icky. The guide said no and had me put the soda back--not sure why because I already had my money out so I was obviously going to pay for it myself. I mean it's a canned soda, so, wth haha - The egg coffee we tried was not very good. The place was pretty, though.

I only had one night in Hanoi so it was perfect to be able to see so much of the city and try so many dishes in one night. The guide was really knowledgeable and took us to so many cool spots and provided so much information about the city, the local families running restaurants and Vietnamese culture. Definitely a great experience
