My husband and I booked this experience and our guide Bony and driver Steven were amazing. They took care of us all along the way. They had trekking poles for the hike to the waterfall which was beautiful but muddy and slippery. The coffee plantation was organic and the best cup of coffee we have ever had. Everyone was welcoming and friendly! They also served us a delicious local lunch and cleaned our boots while we ate. Would recommend but beware they use a tuk-tuk for transportation and the roads can be very bumpy.

We were picked up by tuktuk at the correct time and taken to Materuni by our friendly driver Steven. The journey there in the tuktuk is an adventure in itself. Once arrived we were welcomed like at home. Then we made coffee coffee in the traditional Chagga way - this was a fantastic experience and the coffee was delicious. Following this we could purchase some local coffee and other products but this didn't feel pushy - we bought a bag of coffee because it really is very good! The lunch was also delicious, healthy and plentiful. We left for the hike with a belly full of food and a heart full of joy. The hike to the waterfall was fantastic, our guide Innocent explained everything from Chagga life and traditions to local plants in great details, and he also spotted some chameleons. We had a fantastic time!!!

The hike was moderate but a bit slippery after a rain. Beautiful landscapes and a fabulous waterfall. Our guide was named Bonny and he was great. We took about 1 hour to get to waterfall and then 1 hour to get to coffee plantation. Very informative and great tasting coffee. I purchased 4 packages. Had a true authentic Chaga Meal that was very tasty. Good deal all around.

The materuni village is beautiful and the majestic waterfall sums it all up. The community there is very friendly and the experiences they have curated to showcase their culture are nothing short of genius. I enjoyed the walk through the village spiced up by intermissions from the very knowledgeable guide to narrate facts about their village and culture. The food there especially the banana soup was very delicious and the coffee-making experience was one of a kind.

Boni was incredibly cordial and welcoming. When he realized we were lost, he came down the trail to find us, introduced himself as our guide, and led us to the location. Our visit to Materuni Waterfalls was unforgettable. We sang and danced with members of the local community while learning about the coffee-making process. The food prepared for us was not only delicious but also a full experience on its own. Overall, it was a memorable experience and truly great value for money.

The waterfall was nothing short of awe-inspiring—90 meters of pure, roaring magic. Our guide was incredibly helpful and full of insight. The hike, the effort, and the icy plunge at the end was totally worth it 💯. But the real highlight was the coffee tour. An unforgettable experience that beautifully blends culture, community, and craft. It’s inspiring to see a team so committed to empowering youth and championing sustainable tourism. Add in the warm hospitality and delicious food, and you’ve got something truly special at Migombani Coffee Experience. All we can say is kakasha kanda :)
Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the waterfall, the hike, and especially the coffee experience. It means a lot to hear that our team’s passion for culture, community, and sustainable tourism stood out. Karibu tena—kakasha kanda!
It’s a visit to Materuni waterfalls, with coffee workshop tour. Perfect for me (I didn’t want to go to hotspring) There’s a team of several people working together for the workshop, showing the whole process and little boy playing drums, that gives a quite cool atmosphere! Chanting while grinding the beans. We then taste the coffee we made. Coffee beans bags and some arts are there if you want to buy. Then we went to Materuni waterfalls by walk, an exercise by itself (I tracked and total coffee & waterfalls is about 7k walk) it was low season so less crowded. Which I find it nice. We then went to a local place for lunch. It was delicious! I love the local foods, served in a family like atmosphere. Love my tour overall!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re glad you enjoyed the Materuni waterfalls and coffee experience, especially the lively atmosphere from our team and the cultural coffee process. It’s great to hear the walk, peaceful surroundings, and local lunch made your day even more special. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you again!
