Truthfully, the guides were nice people, but there was much more to learn than we learned. If you have a car, go and buy tix and get the audio yourselves. Our guide mentioned nothing of the Africa connection, or the stories of giants! Also, I think the pick up was something they worked hard at, but it could be made more clear in the future. With limited time, I don’t regret to, but maybe adding morning and a quick stop at the Blue Grotto would improve this tour.
Very knowledgeable guide, I would have liked to hear more scientific history of the dig as I enjoy archeology. I would have like more time to look around the museum and gift shop as I tend to pick up books around these subjects. Otherwise there was plenty of time for the cave and the two other sites.
Guide was knowledgeable and gave us time to wander around the temples. It was not too rushed. Option to get off in Valletta after the tour.
Well organised, but... guide a bit like a boring professor.... talking, talking, talking. Still recommend it.
We were collected from our hotel in Valletta, then it took around 40 minutes to collect everyone else. The information about the tour said that there were 3 sites to visit and that we would get an hour in each one. The first stop was a cave, which was interesting - with a small museum attached - but which did not need an hour. We only stayed for about 45 minutes, and most of that was because our guide talked at length in English and then French. We then drove on to the second stop, which also turned out to be the third - 2 prehistoric temples on the same site. These were well worth seeing, but we only stayed for about an hour and twenty minutes before being shepherded back to the coach. The guide said a lot of words. He went on at length, but much of it was filler and I got very little information from it. I do not need to be told the same thing 3 times. He could have been much more concise, or more actually informative. It would have been good to have more time looking around, as was advertised. Finally, we were driven back - but not to our point of origin, as was specified in the tour description. We were dropped off in Valletta but not at our hotel. For us this was not really a problem, but for someone with disabilities or mobility issues, it would have been. The guide got off at this first drop off point too and left the remaining passengers in the hands of the driver, which seemed odd. Overall, I do not feel it was worth the money I paid for it. It was not as advertised, especially time wise, and the commentary was uninformative and quite dull at times.
They text on the app the bus would be half an hour late then just didn’t show up. No message. There is no phone number. Scammers. DON’T BOOK.
What a cool place! On our recent trip to Malta, we visited this place. The whole place is really well done. Starting in the visitor center and continuing down the paths to the sites it was all very user friendly. We visited on a very chilly windy day, but we still managed to see both sites and thought the experience was definitely something. Highly recommend if you are in Malta.
The sites are interesting but the guiding could have been better had he woven more of a cohesive story.
Disappointing and botched experience: I had to buy two books to understand what I was observing. In the first site, a big babbling about the fact that talking about prehistory is talking about hiring but that with new technologies we will know more (did I really need a guide for this?) and zero explanations on the exhibition part. At the second site there are two possible routes to take from the temples, but we were left there without this having been explained and with limited time for the visit to the museum. 50 euros each for this service, it seems to me really exaggerated.
Good guide, good information. Nice group. On time. Pick up at hotel and possibility of switching buses was appreciated
