Itinerary
We'll pick you up from your hotel, and after a 2-hour journey to Malacca. We'll start your journey with a visit to Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the oldest functioning Chinese temple in Malaysia. Explore its beautifully preserved architecture and intricate carvings that reflect Malacca's rich cultural history. As you wander through the temple, you'll gain insights into the spiritual practices of the local Chinese community, making this a meaningful start to your tour.
Next, stroll down Jonker Street, the heart of Malacca’s vibrant Chinatown. This bustling street is famous for its lively weekend night market, antique shops, and street food stalls. Immerse yourself in the local culture by tasting delicious Nyonya delicacies, chicken rice balls, shopping for unique souvenirs, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot to experience the pulse of the city.
A central hub of Malacca’s colonial architecture. The square is surrounded by historical landmarks like the Stadthuys, believed to be the oldest surviving Dutch building in the East. As you explore the vibrant red-painted buildings and the Queen Victoria Fountain, you’ll feel transported back in time to Malacca’s colonial era.
Continue your exploration with a visit to Christ Church, a striking red-bricked building that stands as a symbol of Malacca’s colonial past. Built by the Dutch in the 18th century, this church features beautiful handmade pews, a brass Bible, and a weathercock on the roof. A walk around the church and its surroundings offers a glimpse into Malacca’s colonial history and architectural beauty.
Ascend Malacca Hill to visit St. Paul’s Church, an ancient ruin with a commanding view of the city and the sea. Originally built by the Portuguese in 1521, this church holds centuries of history within its crumbling walls and ancient tombstones. The peaceful ambiance and panoramic views make it a must-visit for history enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Descending from St. Paul’s Hill, you’ll come across A’Famosa Fort, one of the oldest European architectural remains in Southeast Asia. Originally a massive fortress built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, today only the Porta de Santiago gate remains. This iconic landmark provides a fascinating insight into Malacca’s colonial past and is a prime spot for historical exploration.
Experience the charm of Malacca with a traditional trishaw ride through the city’s historic streets. These colorful, flower-adorned trishaws offer a fun and nostalgic way to explore the city’s landmarks at a leisurely pace. This oldest mode of transportation lets you enjoy the sea breeze from the Malacca Strait as you take in the sights, making this ride both relaxing and memorable.
Take a leisurely river cruise along the Malacca River, offering a unique perspective of the city’s blend of old and new. As you glide through the water, you’ll pass by historical buildings, vibrant murals, and charming riverside villages. The cruise is especially enchanting at dusk, when the city lights up, creating a picturesque view of Malacca from the water.
Conclude your tour with a visit to the Malacca Strait Mosque, a stunning example of modern Islamic architecture built on stilts over the water. As you walk along the pier, you’ll be captivated by the mosque’s beautiful design and the serene views of the sea. Time your visit to coincide with sunset for a truly breathtaking experience as the mosque glows against the backdrop of the setting sun. After finishing our last stop, we'll take another 2-hour journey back to your hotel in Kuala Lumpur

I'm here to praise my recent tour of Putrajaya Mosque (the pink mosque) and Malacca from Kuala Lumpur. First off, KL Buddy Tours is a small, entrepreneurial tourism company, basically a wonderful family business run by Goofy Chen and his wife Hzael. I was immediately drawn to the responsiveness and care with which they both handled my tour. You don't get some big uncaring factory of a tourist day trip from KL to Melacca with them, as every message was quickly answered and they showed tremendous flexibility and personalization of my tour. I looked at other options first, but these felt like uncaring, large tourist company offerings. I was able to add the addtion stop for a small surcharge of the Putrajaya pink mosque, as well as seeing all the highlights of Melacca. I was able to start slightly earlier than stated in the standard tour, and get dropped off at the airport for my hotel, as was leaving the next day. In addition, it was easy to travel in a nice sedan with Chen drining, and having the chance to discuss Malaysia. The tour of Melacca was comprehensive, and Chen ensured I not only saw the sights, but also got pointers from Chen along the way. Both he and his wife Hazel are very kind and I so enjoyed a very full day trip from KL. I highly recommend KL Buddy Tours, and, honestly wish I had an extra day in KL to do their KL City Tour which I'm sure would be just as good. I say go with Chen & Hazel as the tour is small, personalized and perfectly executed. Communication is soooooo much better with a small, family firm that actually cares.
Our private guide picked us up in Kuala Lumpur at our apartment and on our way to Malacca we already got a lot of background information about the country, the culture, the history, the various population groups etc. Goofy Chen was a very nice and knowledgeable tour guide/driver this day. Nothing was too much for him and he took the time to clearly explain all the sights. Although it was not planned, there was also time to walk past some shops. The restaurant he had chosen was excellent and his suggestions what was tasty we followed and did not regret. It was delicious. All in all, the tour took more than 1.5 hours longer than planned due to our extra requests but that was no problem at all. We also got good tips about the upcoming places we are going to visit on this trip. Thank you Goofy Chen
Melaka (Malacca) is a must visit destination in Malaysia because it’s the old capital and it’s full of historical buildings from the Dutch, the Portuguese and the British, with many beautiful old mosques and Chinese and Tamil temples. Chen was my tour guide, who is very knowledgeable in the history of this unique city, and he took me to all the places that I wanted to visit. We went to the Kampung Hulu Mosque, the Kampung Kling Mosque, and the gorgeous Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. We also walked in an alley decorated with beautiful Street Art, and the Dutch Square, where I took a ride on a trishaw, and then weny on a scenic river cruise in the Melaka River. Then we walked along the famous Jonker Street (which I wish it was a pedestrian only street), and at the end we stopped by the Melaka Straits Mosque.
We had a fantastic day on this tour. Our guide, Chen, was absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable about the area. Nothing was ever too much trouble throughout the day and he made the day so fun. The communication before the trip was also great. Thank you so much for making our tour so memorable!!
We could not imagine a better guide than Chen. He was knowledgeable, calm, patient, and completely attentive to our needs. My wife and I had our best day in Malaysia on this tour!
Chen’s private Instagram tour of Maleka was an absolute delight! His passion for the town shone through as he shared hidden gems and captivating local stories, blending insider knowledge with genuine warmth. As a new entrepreneur, his dedication to creating a personalized experience was evident—his friendly demeanor made us feel like old friends road tripping together for the day from KL! If you want a tour that’s both insightful and heartwarming, Chen’s your guide!
This was a fantastic day tour yo Melacca. My guide was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He filled me in on all of the cultural, historical, and religious background of the area.
