This was such a fun experience! I was the only one in the class and they really made it special. Such a cool way to make a true Barcelona souvenir.
This was a fun and interesting experience. The women who ran the class were knowledgeable, friendly, and very patient. I would highly recommend this to all!
Something else. It’s fun, in the end you have something you’ll actually use, the time frame is long enough to get something decent done, but also not so long that an entire day goes for it. The price is reasonable. However, it should not be higher
This was one the best parts of our trip and a great family activity! The espadrilles are perfect. The staff and teacher are so patient. Great memory and moments!
This was the ABSOLUTE best activity I have ever done anywhere. Pilu and Jordi (sorry if spelled their names wrong) were thoroughly entertaining and hospitable. They explained the history of the espadrille while they guided the small group in how to decorate them ourselves. Refreshments were provided which was also wonderful. The shop also had beautiful hand made espadrilles and hand painted boots & sneakers. I enjoyed this activity so much, I’d love to come back again with friends. Recommend highly!! Thanks Pilu & Jordi!
We had booked a walking of old Barcelona and passed by Handmade Barcelona, a wonderful shop in the old town. I wanted a pair of authentic espadrilles, which are hard to find in Toronto, where I live. Our guide told us that I could book a workshop to make a pair - I was in! I don't do crafts - I don't knit, or crochet or quilt - and the workshop leaders were so kind and supportive. You don't actually make your espadrilles from scratch - whew! - you choose the pair you want and then you decorate them, all the while learning the history of the shoes, which was fascinating. Did you know the raffia looking trim around the soles is made from dried grass? Neither did I! Such a terrific experience - complete with a glass of champagne!
I’ve never heard about the Espadrille shoes let alone a workshop. After today’s experience, it is a must do! Stephanie and Pilu were great host. My wife and I had a wonderful time learning about the shoes and building our own shoes. My and and I can say we are proud owners of our own Espadrille shoes. Bravo!!! Great jobs and great hosts. Thank you!!!!
Lovely workshop and fun... except that my bag went missing during it. The shop is closed during the workshop so I didn't think anyone would steal anything. However, the shop front is open to let in air with just a rope across. Neither me nor the other four attendees saw anyone enter but the host said at one point there was a man who came in "browsing" the store. Of the attendees, I was seated closest to doorway, which was still over halfway back into the shop. When I went to get my reading glasses from my bag I discovered that it was gone. I have talked to the store and hopefully they improve security but I would recommend putting your bag on the stairs or at the very back of the shop (it's hard to wear it during the workshop as you move around).
We bought over $300 worth of shoes, and the sales associates did not make us aware of the VAT form. When we called, there was no way to reach them.
Stephanie and Pilu were amazing. Great experience! Products were high quality and service amazing. Not to be missed on a trip to the Gothic Quarter…
