Tour operator gave the wrong pick up information. According to the tickets they're supposed to pick us up at the hotel. Had to message Viator. They told us to go too another address, had to paid Uber $35 to get there. Got there at 7:50 there was no bus.
We woke up at 6am to get ready for our 7am pickup at our hotel. They never showed up. They never contacted us even after we sent them messages. Not once did we hear from the trip advisor or company. After almost an hour and a half of standing in the cold, we finally contacted Viator directly for a refund. We traveled from the US to Vienna and this was the highlight of our trip to visit the beautiful lake side village! This company is terrible and I would never book with them. We missed out on a huge part/agenda of our trip due to this mishap on their part.
I booked the Hallstatt tour. The ticket had 2 different starting times, so I reached out- no answer. The day before, they took the money from my account- instead of Euros, they charged me in GBP, so the amount was higher(also suspicious for a Slovakian company). 30 minutes later they texted me on my phone, saying the tour was canceled, but I can rebook for Salzburg or get a refund. That one also felt dodgy, because they insisted to rebook it on the same day, however the tour was not actually offered on that day, so I asked for a refund. They said I would get a confirmation email and the money back within 3 days. It has been 5 days, they do not answer to anything, no money back and now I am fighting for it with Viator.
Don’t trust this provider. Full payment charged. But tour was cancelled last minute the night before - only after I message to ask about pickup point ! Very unprofessional. It’s holiday season, many other tours are fully booked - 23/12 too late to get another tour. Terrible experience
It was the highlight of our trip in Austria. I am so in love with the place. I am glad we got to experience this amazing place in person.
It was a smooth experience from booking to finish. The tour guide, Marek, messaged me the night before to confirm the pick-up time and trip details, which I really appreciated. He was an excellent guide and driver—organized, friendly, and managed the schedule really well. Marek provided useful information about each destination, including where to eat, what’s worth seeing, where the restrooms were, and the best photo spots. At every stop, he gave us a short historical and cultural overview, then allowed generous time to explore on our own. We never felt rushed, although it’s good to keep in mind that this is a day trip from Vienna, not a full day in each destination—so you’ll need to prioritize what you want to see most. The van was new, clean, and comfortable, and Marek drove safely the entire time. He was very thoughtful and spoke fluent English. Overall, it was a very enjoyable and well-organized trip. I would definitely recommend this tour and this provider!
Extremely had a bad experience with this trip booking . My booking was cancelled day before trip without prior information and I forced to book new booking with additional more 200 euro extra cost for the booking. I will never suggest any friends and colleagues to book any such trip through viator.
Richard our driver & guide was excellent. Such a beautiful day trip! Everything was smooth. Enjoyed the narration Richard provided.
Totally disappointed with this tour company, showing as “Visit Austria” in Viator but another reviewer had referred to it as “Capital City Discoveries” which seems to check out with the same tour contact in their TripAdvisor reviews. I had booked the tour to Halllstatt+Salzburg from Vienna 2 weeks before a September 30, 2025 tour date. At around 8pm on September 29th, I got a message from them to say that the tour scheduled for 7am the following morning has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and asked if I wanted to reschedule for October 1st or get a refund. I had asked them to advise if there was a chance that the October 1st tour would be cancelled, because in which case I would look for an alternate tour. They said the October 1st one is happening so I rescheduled. Just before 11pm on September 30, I get a notification from Viator that a refund has been processed. I was confused and worried that the tour was cancelled again but there was no message from the tour company. Getting the notice at 11pm also meant I didn’t have much option to find another tour for the following day which was my last full day in Vienna. I sent a couple of messages acknowledging that it was super late and I’d likely not get an update till the morning. Day of the tour, I get ready just in case. Sadly no one comes so I message the tour and Viator. Viator said no note as to why it was cancelled but confirmed the refund. Still no message from the tour company which is unacceptable and unfortunately a very disappointing way to wrap up my trip to Austria.
Was really good, very small group, comfortable ride, Richard was very friendly and gave good recommendations. Overall the experience was really good!
