Thank you Marco for sharing your stories, knowledge & local tips of Madeira! Loved swimming the pools, off road driving was fun & learning about the island from a local helped make this a special trip🥰
The excursion was definitely worth it; you get to see countless beautiful landscapes. Our guide Enia, an authentic Madeiran, passionately shared her homeland with us through interesting explanations. There are plenty of highlights on this tour (see photos). My tips: definitely bring a hat and sunscreen, as you will be driving with the top down the entire tour. Although not much hiking is done, one should still consider wearing sports shoes, as you are on your feet quite a bit and have uneven ground at the levadas or in the mystical forest. In Porto Moniz, I liked the natural pools without an entrance fee the best; they were more authentic and there was less crowding.
We had a blast. Picked up on time from the hotel, only one other couple in our jeep so plenty of room. Taken up into the mountains, well above the cloud level for the day; which meant some great pics. The off-road bit was crazy good. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole day even though the sea was so rough it prevented us from having a dip. Special shout out to Enya, our driver and host for the day. Always making sure we were ok and ever so friendly. For the price, this tour is a must.
It was a lovely day with variating sceneries around the island and our superb guide Enya. She was very warm and kind to us and drove safely on challenging roads (some of those were realllly bumpy indeed). There was enough time for lunch and swimming and the schedules were negotiable.
A small group of 5, we were lucky to be alongside Lino, our fabulous guide, who made this day even more wonderful than the landscape already offered! Waterfall, natural pool, 4x4 in the forest, animals... we leave with our hearts filled with love and our heads filled with all the landscapes that northern Madeira has to offer! Thank you, Lino!
Excellent off road trip, lots of information and very interesting. We had a great guide who knew about the history, plants and wildlife
We booked a tour over the western part of Madeira. The booking process and the entire handling were excellent. The tour itself was spectacular and indescribably good. Real OFF-road over hill and stone. Where private SUVs would turn around, the fun begins. Inclines of 20 to 33% should be mastered. Pure adrenaline. Great guide Luis explained everything well. A full day of experiences! Highly recommended. Worth every cent.
Jose was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable. Always clear with what and where we were going. Jovial and friendly. Even though the weather was inclement during the high off-roading forest trek, it was still worth the adventure. And always fun watching 5 tour guides trying to change a flat tyre ;)
Antonio was the perfect guide for us; we booked the Northwest tour in German and were not disappointed! He shared a lot of information and perfectly accompanied us throughout the day. The off-road route definitely lived up to its name and was cool. Of course, there wasn't endless free time at the stops, or a small entrance fee had to be paid (about €3 per person). But there was enough time to marvel, swim, have lunch, enjoy, or engage in small talk with Antonio. An amazing experience, absolutely recommended to experience the maximum variety of Madeira in one day.
Our guide/driver was fantastic. Knowledgable, friendly and keen to give us the most out of our experience. Pack for all weather conditions and bring lots of water! Only negative thing to note is the car did break down at the end of the trip and the company arranged to have us picked up. This experience was the highlight of the trip and such a great way to see Madeira and avoid driving around the tight and steep roads.
