Description

For many visitors to Peru and even South America, a visit to the Inca city of Machu Picchu is the long-anticipated highpoint of their trip. In a spectacular location, it’s the best-known archaeological site on the continent. This awe-inspiring ancient city was never revealed to the conquering Spaniards and was virtually forgotten until the early part of the 20th century.

Stranded and no refund

This is a scam. You will end up paying well over this. 3 of us went and had to pay for our own machu pichu ticket and we ended up semi-stranded and having to pay to get a train back to town and we barely made the final train. Minimal guidance. The guides were great, but we were never refunded for our machu pichu ticket as told nor were we reimbursed for the only available train that was 130 USD per person to get back (when being stranded out there with no bus to retrieve us.) I would recommend going through a more official company.

Machu picchu worth it

The experience of machu picchu is incredible. The guide was really nice and all about that is nice. About the tour, to walk from hydroelectrica isn't that anoying. But the meals are not good. And the service in both "restaurant" neither. Problem, all the tours like this one go in those two same restaurant. So If you want to eat good, you have to take a more expensive tour I guess... Same for the hotel, not the best, hopefully just for the night. About the organisation, the informations were sending by message kind of late according to me and my girlfriend. But like I said, all the "cheap tours" like this one do the same (it's really touristic). So I don't blame this one more than an other. Unless that, the machu picchu worth it. If you have money you can afford a more expensive tour or go by yourself in train. If not, you should take this tour anyway.

A great way to visit an incredible place

I thought the 2 day car trip to Machu Picchu was an excellent experience. I know the more traditional way is to trek over multiple days but if you are on a budget or short on time this is a great option. We left Cusco early for the long journey to the Hidroelectrica. After lunch (around 2pm) we walked to Aguas Calientes. This took a few hours ago and was a grand enough walk. Dinner and accommodation was sorted here and we had an early night. The next day we hiked up to Machu Picchu from the town. This is a bit challenging but you can get a bus (and a train from the Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes also). Everything was absolutely worth it as Machu Picchu is incredible. We had a brilliant tour guide who brought us around. After this (and many photos!) we returned to the bus for the journey back. An incredible experience. My only feedback and something to watch is that some of the organisers didn't speak great English. But Google Translate got around this.

Great experience

If you’re looking for more of a relaxing way to do Machu Picchu without the full hike it’s a great opportunity. Unfortunately we weren’t able to visit the hot springs as they were closing close to dinner. I recommend getting a sandwich at Machu Picchu for the hike down. Instead of having to take all the steps you can choose between the road and the stairs which we decided to alternate. Our guide for Machu Picchu was amazing and I would definitely do this experience again. If you want more time I think you can book a train ticket for around $33 USD-45 CAD back to Cusco

Totally Recommend

Karen the lady who organised the tour was exceptionally well. She was very helpful and went above and beyond to help me in planning and organising this. The tour was very nice and a good value for money. Staff took good care of me all the way and I can very much recommend them.
