Lyon: Private dining experience through 3 restaurants

This food tour with Laura was top notch. We visited three different local places for appetizers, then tapas, then dessert. I would go back to any of the three restaurants and, if I did, I would like to go with Laura again. Her knowledge of gastronomy was very, very good and we had great conversations around flavors and food in general. She was also very accommodating to my walking disability . Highly recommend this tour.

From the instant I saw Laura, our guide, I knew that we'd greatly enjoy our dining experience. She is extremely professional and friendly and upbeat. We visited 3 very different establishments, each of which featured dramatically different foods. The first stop gave us the best pate croute (Grieve restaurant) I have ever had with a lovely red wine. Mind you, this is the only time I've enjoyed a pate croute. The second restaurant served us 5 completely different small plates of the best food sampling I think I've every had (Arsene restaurant). Stunning. Honest. The next restuarant spoiled us with an amazing chocolate soufflee (Cafe Terroir restaurant) with a digestif (mine was an amazing Chartreuse). Laura's wisdom in the restaurant industry was clearly apparent. She watched over us noting our comments and tastes carefully to guide her commentary. She is simply a lovely person. Even if we didn't eat anything, I would have thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The one small point I would mention as a hint to possibly improve the experience is she could have given us a deeper understanding of why Lyon is a gastronomical center and why they excel in pate croute or have "bouchons" or why there are about 100 places to eat great food in a 1 mile radius. This was an excellent tour and I highly recommend it.

We very much enjoyed meeting Laura and this true foodie experience. Lyon truly deserves its title as the capital of French gastronomy.

The restaurant has had a new ownership for some months (and it shows), but the chef remains what he always was, a pupil of the immense Bocuse. It's obvious from the appetizers, with the crust pate of the highest quality. We then tasted a sublime foie gras, Parisian snails, a classic tartare of rare balance. All accompanied by excellent wines. In fact, everything recalls gastronomic excellence, with a price that is far from prohibitive. To be repeated absolutely

We had the absolute best time on this private dining experience with Laura!! Wow! This was part of our honeymoon, so it was really important to us, and it ended up being one of the most special days of our entire trip and set the tone for the best trip to Lyon. From the very beginning, everything felt thoughtful and personal. The food was INCREDIBLE, the wine pairings were perfect, and every stop felt carefully chosen. Nothing felt rushed, and we truly got to enjoy each moment. Laura was so warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. It was so amazing that someone we had just met truly cared about making our day special. This experience happened at the start of our trip, and it made such a difference. Not only did it set the tone for our time in Lyon, but the recommendations and tips we got made the rest of our trip even better. We felt more confident exploring the city and more connected to it. More than anything, this experience showed us how kind and welcoming the people of Lyon are. We will always remember this day and Insiders Experience, and we are so grateful to the Insiders team for making our honeymoon even more meaningful. We actually went back to one of the wine stores and bought wine to take home to remember this day! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Lyon. This is a five star experience in every way.

Our food tour with Laura was a lot of fun. She was friendly and engaging, we never ran out of topics to discuss. We enjoyed the wine shop and each restaurant, the last one we went to felt like a special experience. They were well paced also. We would have missed out on each of these places if we hadn't taken the tour!

The one experience not to miss if you’re wishing to discover Lyon as a propre local! I have experienced that amazing tour with Aldric, my local insider, I absolutely loved it. Aldric was very professional, kind and interesting. The food and service quality of the chosen different places were outstanding, very local and intimate restaurants in which we don’t feel like tourists, we feel like french people ! Staff restaurants were very welcoming and Aldric was also telling me entertaining anecdotes about Lyon city in between the different stops which gave some caracter to the expérience ! Thanks a lot to Insiders , I definitely recommend .

Thank you, Laura, for being such a superb host and treating us to a spectacular evening exploring the cuisine of Lyon. We were able to experience unique and truly local venues we would have never found on our own. The food and wines were oustanding, and the staff at each stop was very attentive and informative, ensuring a very personal and memorable evening, totally exceeding our expectations!

Aldric did a wonderful job! He met my wife and me at a nearby square and walked with us around the city, taking us to 3 different restaurants that locals might eat at. All 3 were excellent, and having a local there with us to help translate and share recommendations made it a special experience. We did this activity on our first night in Lyon, and Aldric was kind enough to share many fantastic recommendations for places to eat and things to do that we wouldn’t have found on our own.
