Luxor: Hot Air Balloon Ride before Sunrise

We had a wonderful experience with King Tut Balloons and trip organized by our hotel (Mama Africa Apts& Studios) in Luxor. Everything was explained well and on schedule. Team was very friendly and offered some tea while we were waiting. They made sure everyone was comfortable and cover our pick up from a hotel and the way back. Absolutely recommend this unforgettable experience!

I booked directly via the Chat function on their website. Booking, payment and communication about pick up time was easy and seamless. Minibus arrived on time and our guide gave a safety briefing when we arrived at the balloon launch area. We had a corner position in the basket, which is the best place to see The Valley of the Kings area and Luxor from. Flight was fabulous; a wonderful experience. We landed in a field (as did most of the balloons) where the ground crew secured the balloon and helped us out. Mini bus was parked nearby to take us back to our hotel.

We booked the first flight of the morning and were picked up at 5:25am from Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa. As we were the last to be picked up, it meant we had a bit more rest compared to others, which was appreciated. A van collected us and there were already about eight passengers inside. Upon arrival at the launch site, things felt quite rushed. We were dropped off quickly and there was no proper safety briefing. Instead, the focus seemed to be on selling the photo and video package for 500 EGP. I purchased it, but the process felt hurried as they were concentrating on taking photos for the family before us. As of the next day, I was still waiting to receive the photos. When it was time to board the basket, we were asked to get in quickly. A tip for future travellers: try to secure one of the corner sections of the basket, as it offers better views during the flight. The balloon ride itself was beautiful and smooth. The sunrise over the West Bank of Luxor was truly memorable — this part of the experience was excellent. However, there were several concerns regarding what was promised versus what was delivered. Refreshments were not offered. When I queried this via their official WhatsApp, I was initially told it was due to Ramadan. However, after checking previous reviews, it appears refreshments were not provided even outside Ramadan. It was later clarified that “refreshments” referred only to tea or coffee, and a USD 1 refund was offered, which I did not pursue. The issue was less about the amount and more about clarity and transparency. Additionally, I noticed from other reviews that a flight certificate was supposed to be provided. We did not receive one, and there was no follow-up response regarding this. In summary, while the balloon ride itself was enjoyable and the views were spectacular, the company’s practices made me question whether they fully honour what is advertised. Their website is impressive and reviews are mixed — which is why I decided to go ahead with them. However, based on my experience, I would likely choose a different operator next time due to concerns around communication and delivery of what was promised.

It was a great experience, once in alife time. The cost was reasonable, not too expensive. It was very safe, acutely there was kids next to me. The pilot was so professional and the landing instructions were clear. 10/10 must try it

Great experience! Punctual transfer, experienced and reassuring staff. Do not miss the temple of Hatshepsut from above and the sunrise between the hot air balloons.

What a magnificent experience! We were a group of 8 from an Odyssey's tour on Dec 14, 2025. The 6am lift off was worth it to see the sunrise. There were approximately 30 people in our huge basket with 4 to a pod. There must have been 50 colorful balloons floating across the sky with Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut in the distance. WOW!
