Most temples in Upper Egypt date from the Ptolemaic era. Seti I reigned approximately 3,300 years ago, shortly after Tutankhamun. He was the second pharaoh of Egypt’s Nineteenth Dynasty during the New Kingdom period and the father of Ramses II, also known as Ramses the Great. After a reign of approximately 11 to 15 years, Seti I’s temple was still under construction at the time of his death. His son, Ramses II, completed the temple in honor of his father. Dorothy Louise Eady, also known as Omm Sety, served as the keeper of the Temple of Seti I in Abydos until her death in 1981.
