Luminous Lagoon Tour from Montego Bay ( Glistening Waters)

Description
Luminous Lagoon is a natural phenomal that should be on your bucket list as one of the best things to do in Jamaica. Located in the historic town of Falmouth in the parish of Trelawny which has rich history and is known to have had running water since 1799. The Luminous Lagoon tour starts in the evening around 6:30 PM when it gets dark. Giving the nature of the excursion, it depends greatly on the lesser light to have its greatest effect. The darker the setting the more pronounce the glow of the water. The actual tour of the Luminous Lagoon is a ride on a boat out on the bay for around 10 minutes in shallow waters.

My husband and I came to Jamaica for our honey moon. We booked with Best Jamaica to go to the Luminous Lagoon and a few other places. Our drivers name was Miguel, he made our whole trip. He was very kind and friendly upon arrival introducing himself and helping us into the vehicle. He stopped by a local shop for us to do some shopping along the way. When we arrived to the meeting place for the lagoon trip, he took photos, helped us get checked in to get our wrist bracelets and also got us our rum punch. He was very attentive and helped us with everything along the way. He was so nice we requested him later in the week for a all day trip to Negril. Again, he arrived on time showing us things and allowing us to stop and take photos. He stopped and got us Jamaican snacks and was helpful at all excursions : Luminous Lagoon, Seven Mile Beach and Ricks Café. He told us facts about Jamaica and answered all of our questions. I would recommend this company but most importantly the guide Miguel, so nice , you wont regret it ! Emily and Tyler Stewart
I did not attend this event because contrary to the info there, they do not pick up from air BnBs.
Luminous Lagoon was a unique experience. 15 minutes from Iberostar Montego Bay to Falmouth. You take a boat at night into the lagoon. You jump in and splash and the water turns blue. The cool water of the Martha Brae river joins with the warm Caribbean ocean. This allows Micro organisms to illuminate. This phenomenon happens only in a few places around the world.
This trip was so cool! My only complaint is that I was trying to take videos instead of just pictures, so by the time I figured out to just snap pics, it was too late so I only got a pic of us pulling out of the area when the water lit up. Definitely something I will never forget! We booked with Best Jamaica Tours and they were incredible! My son forgot his phone on the boat and they worked it out to get it back to our resort. Truly an incredible experience.
The Lagoon is something to see. It was so neat to see the water light up when we moved around. To be able to go to one of only 5 in the world of these sites, was a treat. Tour price was fair and the ride was comfortable. The boat personell took some great pics of us and were available for a reasonable price. Our driver from Best Jamaican Tours, Leroy, was a fabulous guide. He gave us lots of good information about Jamaica from a natives perspective. He was kind and helped us to get to a pharmacy to get aloe vera gel and found us an ATM before we went back to the resort. Leroy was right on time and a total gentleman. Would book with Best Jamaican again.
Just seems to be a gimmick. Could not really see or photo anything once you venture into the water. Everything seems to rushed.
Sitting in the parking lot waiting for the tour operator to show up, which never happened. You shouldn't ask people who were shafted to complete a survey.
Driver arrived on time and was very nice, he told us about some Jamaican history on the way as well.
Make sure you contact the tour company before your excursion. I was supposed to be picked up at 6 and needed to contact customer service due to waiting a half hour to leave. I was picked up around 7 and the tour felt rushed. It wasn't worth the price but the experience in the glowing water was nice as well as the fire show. My guide Wayne was fun and provided me with a friendly and engaging ride to and from my hotel.
Wonderful, exhilarating, great and amazing experience. Don’t skip this adventure. Friendly, entertaining and helpful staff.
