Itinerary

60 min

“Welcome to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, one of the world’s most iconic landmarks! Built over 199 years, starting in the 12th century, the tower’s signature tilt is due to soft ground beneath its foundation. Standing nearly 57 meters tall, its unique lean has made it a global architectural marvel. Today, you can climb its 294 steps for panoramic views of Pisa and beyond. This tower is part of the Piazza dei Miracoli and perfectly complements the grand architectural treasures around it. A visit to the Leaning Tower is a must, allowing you to not only witness but feel the history and ingenuity of medieval construction.”

60 min

“Next, we arrive at the Baptistery of St. John, the largest baptistery in Italy and another gem of the Piazza dei Miracoli. Completed in 1363, this towering structure blends Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. Its circular design and ornate marble exterior are truly captivating, but the real magic happens inside. The acoustics of the Baptistery are world-renowned, creating an echo that gives an almost spiritual atmosphere. The interior is simple yet awe-inspiring, with a central baptismal font and a stunning pulpit by Nicola Pisano. A symbol of rebirth in both faith and artistry, this is a must-visit for architecture lovers.”

60 min

“Now, we step into the Opera Museum, or the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, where centuries of Pisa’s artistic treasures are housed. This museum showcases a rich collection of sculptures, paintings, and artifacts from the Cathedral and Baptistery. You’ll see works by renowned medieval artists, including Pisano’s intricate sculptures and remarkable religious paintings. The museum also offers insight into the history of the Piazza dei Miracoli and the construction of the Leaning Tower. It’s a journey through the artistic and religious heritage of Pisa, making it a perfect stop for anyone wanting to deepen their appreciation of Pisa’s cultural history.”

60 min

“Next, we visit the Sinopie Museum, a hidden gem for art lovers and history enthusiasts. This museum houses the preparatory sketches, or ‘sinopie’, that were used to create the beautiful frescoes originally decorating the Camposanto walls. These detailed drawings offer a rare glimpse into the process behind medieval fresco creation, providing insight into the artistic techniques of the time. The Sinopie Museum is unique in that it preserves art that was almost lost during World War II, when bombing severely damaged the original frescoes. It’s a fascinating look into the intersection of art, history, and restoration.”

60 min

“Our final stop is the Camposanto Monumentale, a monumental cemetery and one of the most serene spaces in the Piazza dei Miracoli. Legend has it that the soil here was brought from Golgotha during the Crusades, making it a sacred resting place. The inner cloister is lined with Gothic arches and once housed beautiful frescoes that depicted religious and historical scenes. Though many were damaged in World War II, restoration work continues today. Walking through Camposanto is like stepping into history—its peaceful atmosphere, combined with the remarkable artwork and architecture, makes it a deeply moving part of Pisa’s heritage.”

Pisa tower area

This package is a great one because you can visit all the attractions around the Pisa tower with one ticket. The only thing you need to do, is to show the QR code you get. Nice and smooth.

Do not book!

Do not book! You are better off booking the experience through the official site early! I booked this experience well ahead of time and 1 day prior the tour organizer contacted me to tell me our scheduled time was not available and they couldn’t accommodate us. They gave us other times (very early and very late) that weren’t going to work. They did refund us, but this was a once in a lifetime trip for us- we were only in Pisa for one day and missed out on going into the tower of Pisa because they cancelled on us last minute. So disappointing!

Amazing, highly recommend!

When all of the other time slots to climb the Tower of Pisa were sold out, I was getting nervous because my client really had their heart set on this experience. I am so glad I found Rome Vatican City. They had exactly the time slot we needed for a group of 10 guests, and the entire process was seamless from start to finish. Their communication was outstanding, they responded quickly to all of my questions, and everything went exactly as planned. I highly recommend working with them and will absolutely use them again in the future.

Discrepancy in price of tickets

It was great. Only downside- the ticket cost us 66 euros but on the ticket it said 54 euros. Why the Discrepancy?

Brilliant experience

It had been on my bucket list to come to Pisa and it certainly didn't disappoint. It was some hike to get to the top of the tower but was so worth it.

Magnificent place.

Respect the rules regarding bags, even the very small ones, as they will redirect you to the storage anyway. This prevents losing your time slot. Very friendly welcome and patiently answers questions ;)) Proper attire requested for the cathedral!!

Rip off

We wasted our money. It took 1.5 hours to locate the "meeting place". The desk at the location was staffed by a Pisa employee who was not familiar with the Viator tour. I called the vendor and was greeted by a rude person that explained all the information was emailed to me. I was told to log into their site, and in trying to do so found the username field for my email address would not allow enough characters to allow me access. The vendor refused to help further, and I requested a refund due to frustration and was advised all the information needed was provided and no refund would be made. Viator also would not provide a refund stating the vendor denied our request.

Brilliant experience

Superb. We booked via Viator for timed access. Picking up the tickets was easy and we got in to the tower on schedule. Halfway up I regretted it (haha) but the views were amazing We also entered the cathedral and baptistry on the same ticket. Both were fantastic to see. Thanks to Natalia and all the team for making things so simple.
