Great tour

This is a great tour that offers many sides of Iceland with each stop being a different landscape. Our tour guide Sven was excellent in giving us the history of Iceland and each varied landscape while keeping up well entertained. Best tour in Iceland so far.

Not just beautiful scenery, but an immersive Iceland experience!

The guide (Dabba) was exceptional! She was born in Akureyri and gave us wonderful insight into the history, community, and people. She planned our stops carefully to maximize our time there and minimize unnecessary walking. This tour helped us understand Iceland in so many ways…not just shuttling us around.

Tour guide asked me to...

Tour guide asked me to move to the other bus as the bus was oversold. I was one of the first people on the bus. The other bus was combining two tours, the new Tour Guide assured me there was no difference in the schedule and I communicated that I did not want to spend anytime waiting at the spa.. At the first stop I asked a second time, and Tour Guide confirmed the itinerary is the same, which is impossible because she also acknowledged that we are going to the spa for drop off and pick up. We waited ten minutes in a parking lot in the wind waiting for the bus to pick us up after it dropped off half the group at the spa. Then we carried on with our tour. We were finished at 230, plenty of time to get back to the port ahead of schedule, by 4pm. But we had to kill one hour for the people who booked the spa visit. Leaving the spa at 345, Tour Guide announced we would only have 15 minutes for the city center stop. I checked my itinerary and that is not a stop, I believe it is a stop on the tour that included the spa, and I there are now we won’t arrive back to the port until well after 5pm, without any consideration that customers likely have evening reservations on the ship. Tour Guide confirmed to me twice that the tour is the same, and no time would be spent on activities unrelated to the tour I booked. At this point we are on the way back and I don’t see how we will be at the cruise port by 515, scheduled time was 4. I really feel for the people that are tight to make dinner reservations on the ship. It was very windy, surely people want time to regroup . Tour Guide was not upfront with me. I wouldn’t have gotten on the bus if she had told me the truth, it’s just not how I want to spend my valuable vacation time. I can’t recommend this tour, but also they changed the pickup time and communicated that via chat, rather than updating in the reservation, so it was confusing when we were leaving..

Do this!

What a great way to see all the sights! It’s best to this as early as possible. We were the first bus to the falls which was nice. Our guide was great keeping us informed on each stop. Totally worth it!

Fabulous day in Northern Iceland

We had a fantastic day exploring the Lake Mývatn region with our wonderful guide, Berlinge. She was friendly, engaging and shared lots of interesting information throughout the day, making the journey both enjoyable and informative. The itinerary was excellent with a puck up from the cruise port. We began at the spectacular Goðafoss, the “Waterfall of the Gods”, before travelling through the incredible landscapes around Lake Mývatn. The Skútustaðir pseudo-craters were fascinating, but the real highlights for us were the extraordinary lava formations at Dimmuborgir and the geothermal area at Námaskarð. The bubbling mud pools, steaming vents and colourful mineral deposits created an almost otherworldly landscape – absolutely unforgettable. A packed lunch with a sandwich and bottle of water was arranged by our friendly bus driver, which was a thoughtful addition and meant we could make the most of the day. Our tour guide recommended the home-made ice cream which was delicious on the final stop. This tour was exceptionally well organised and offered a brilliant introduction to North Iceland’s unique volcanic scenery. Highly recommended

Okay but…

Really enjoyed the tour the guide was knowledgeable and often rambled on about interesting facts about the local culture which was good. The only disappointing thing was that it was marked as easy and it really was not… my wife struggled walking to a couple of places and could not manage one waterfall at all. It is not suitable for anyone that cannot walk for 15 minutes over rocky and undulating terrain. The coach is quite cramped for an 8 hour trip, could really do with a coach with more room
