Sit back and relax as your guide navigates carefully and safely through the traffic as you pass by other iconic sights of Arashiyama such as the Togetsukyo Bridge, the river side with Mt Arashi, charactaristic neighbourhoods and townhouses. Must Visit for Every lovers.

We just found there is option of taking rickshaw when we were visiting Bamboo forest and it can take separate route. Our experience exceeded our expectations with some of the amazing picture taken by Shintaro San . Usually I dont write unless there is exceptional /outstanding experience and this was the one.

A must-do in rented kimonos!

My wife & I rented kimono outfits for this experience, highly recommended. We went on a 1-hr long tour (rickshaw & a brief walk). The bamboo paths were flooded with walking tourists, but the rickshaws had a short path that was perfect for a private photo op, before having to rejoin the general public path again. We also left the bamboo forest to join local streets; we also walked for about 10 minutes (including more on-foot photos). Our puller was Daisuke who has been doing this for over 20 years & had a vast knowledge of the area. He also took some unique shots using my own Samsung phone; I'm sure he knows his way around many phone brands & models. We recommend this company & Daisuke! About renting kimonos: as far as I could learn to discern different types of kimonos, I got my Yukata & my wife got her Komon. No need to make reservations, just walk up & down the main strip & these rental places are everywhere. Decide what u want & how much you're willing to pay (for the kimonos & the rental duration), then get fitted, & have fun! If it's a rainy day, you can also add an umbrella into the rental. They pretty much have everything you want or need to make you look as authentic as you'd like to be!

Operator response

Dear 207dannyh, Thank you very much for your detailed review. While there are plenty of opportunities to rent and wear a kimono, yukata etc in different cities across Japan, the rickshaw and kimono combo in Kyoto is perhaps one of the most picturesque scenario. With your phone or camera our guide will be sure to stop and take gorgeous pictures to capture some memories during the tour. You can simply walk in at our rickshaw stand after getting changed into the rental clothes. In case of making an advance reservation, we always recommend to allow at the very least one hour between rental appointment and rickshaw tour. With the many different choices and options to choose from before getting dressed, a generous time schedule is of essence. We hope you enjoyed the experience in traditional clothing and riding on the rickshaw. Kind regards, Ebisuya Rickshaw

You should taste the charm of rickshaws

It was a great experience. The appeal of rickshaws is that they are an experience you can't do yourself. I highly recommend it to visitors to Japan and Arashiyama. The charioteers are very pleasant, they talk well and they take pictures of wonderful memories. Mr. Katsuki in charge, it was very good.

It was a great experience.

It was amazing to see the city, beautiful scenery and Aurora in my own eyes, and I really enjoyed it! The scenery in Arashiyama is great, but walking is exhausting, so I think it's very good to use a rickshaw for a great experience! There was also an area where I could take pictures, which was only accessible by rickshaw, so I could calm down and experience nature. You will be able to tell me which souvenir shop to go to while riding a rickshaw, and I would definitely recommend it to those who have time to take pictures as they are very good!

Beautiful way to see the city!

Shota was our guide and he was amazing! He made sure we were comfortable in the cold weather and took amazing photos! He also explained the history of the sites and provided great conversations!

We are happy to know that you enjoyed the guidance, explanations and the photos by your assigned guide Shota. The rickshaws are used all year round and can be adapted according to the season. When it rains or get colder we adjust the type and thickness of the blankets, including water- and windproof covers to keep you warm and comfortable during this colder season.
