It’s not a guided tour as such you are left to find the places by yourself once you get to location area.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. This tour is designed to provide transportation to each destination with free time for guests to explore independently, rather than a fully guided experience at every stop. We understand this may not suit everyone’s preference, and we appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
This review was a must for our wonderful tour guy MAI. she was soo sweet , funny and was very detailed about how long will be meet , spend time at the site and has drawings and maps that she made herself . She had the best personality and you could tell that this was her passion and dream to share with us her beautiful county . We couldn’t have been more happy with this well organized tour and especially “ Mai” our tour got meade it deliteful . You are awesome Mai! Thanks for everything .
Nick was a fantastic guide! Super informative, funny, and really knew how to entertain! The day was packed full of different activities, and I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend this tour!
The instructions how to join the tour were disappointingly poor, relying on us already knowing where or else being online with live GPS navigation. The description was borderline misleading (out of date photo of the office exterior) and the map was unhelpful - a very simple diagram from Kyoto station is singularly simple to produce and send, why not provide it. Happily we nevertheless made it just in time. The tour was well worth it and the young lad who was the guide was very pleasant. On the other hand, we were charged again after we had paid in advance in order to get "full details" of how to get onto the tour. Viator chose to ignore my request for a refund and I am waiting for my card issuer to refund the overcharge.
We appreciate you sharing your experience. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the tour itself and that your guide made the day pleasant. Your feedback regarding clearer directions and updated visuals is valuable, and we will review and improve our communication materials to make the checkin process smoother for future guests.
It was a good and insightfull tour. Especially deers in Nara park and Red gates in the last stop. I recommend this tour to all people.
Thank you for sharing your experience on the Kyoto & Nara Day Trip. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the deer at Nara Park and the iconic red gates at Fushimi Inari. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we hope to welcome you on another memorable tour soon
We booked this tour prior to leaving for Osaka in July 2025. It's a fairly long tour as described. Upon approaching Nara which was our first stop, our tour guides encouraged us to go see the temple in Nara. We paid extra to go see the temple along with 80% of the bus. Our guides said we have plenty of time to see the deer feed the deer etc, unfortunately it wasn't the case. We were left with 5-10 minutes only in Nara deer park which was extremely disappointing. We departed the tour at the first stop effectively paying $370 for a 1 hour bus trip. All my other tours in Japan were outstanding, unfortunately not this one.
The guide Amanda had no leadership and was unable to maintain a full group. Bus seating was arranged with assigned seats (she had a whole pdf of the map), yet she chose to enforce it for only some groups. As I was sitting, amanda made me get out because of where i was seated because of this map, yet then did not accommodate for me to sit in my assigned seat. She made my group separate, even though we were the first to be there upon this bus’s arrival. She was unable to be a leader and enforce the proper seat assignment map that she had on her phone, and let others experience hinder. She seemed to be scared of the older adults and perhaps she thought because we were younger, she didn’t have to accommodate the same respect and attention to us. Tour was of low quality, you are basically paying for the transportation to the spots and not an actual tour guide. Air conditioned vehicle is an overstatement, it was a stuffy bus with barely any air circulating.
This tour was a good way to see the major sites when you are limited on time We enjoyed everything! Our only disappointment was that our guide did not know that the monkey area closed at 4 so we went able to visit.
A perfect blend of culture and nature! Fushimi Inari’s endless red torii gates were breathtaking—go early to avoid crowds and enjoy the peaceful hike. Afterward, Nara Park was a fun and relaxing experience. Feeding the bowing deer and visiting Todai-ji’s giant Buddha were unforgettable highlights. Super easy to do both in one day from Kyoto!
The tour was amazing! There were so many places to explore and the views were amazing! One drawback would be that we can't spend enough time in each places, but this is perfect for newcomers who don't know where to visit. It's a perfect tour for first timers, and they can decide to revisit later to explore the locations on their own if needed. The tour guide, Mr.Gary was really polite and knowledgeable, and explained things very well. I am hoping to revisit the locations on my own at some point so I can spend more time in each place.
