Tatsumi Bridge is a small traditional bridge located in a corner of Gion that feels like stepping into a scene from a movie. The area around Tatsumi Bridge is filled with charming wooden machiya houses, traditional tea houses, and the tranquil Shirakawa Canal. Such an insightful and engaging experience. Our guide Yuji was great, very helpful. Learning about geishas and maikos in a real tea house, directly speaking to one, and also watching their art was fascinating. A must have in Japan, I highly recommend.
Overall a truly outstanding experience. Miho was a fantastic guide. She answered all questions and was also happy to explain things well that were not directly related to geishas. The highlight was, of course, the geisha herself, who informed us about the culture and tradition firsthand and played two wonderful songs, to which the maiko gave an impressive performance.

A great day spent with Taka San to understand the history and culture of the Nara Shrines and Temples. We also got to visit a traditional Japanese area with a traditional Japanese home. Last week my daughter and I had the most incredible experience in Kyoto with our guide Miho, wandering through the Gion district, learning about Kyoto's famous Geisha history, learning about the Maiko-sans and their complex and ardous apprenticeship. We then had the great privilege of meeting a Maiko-san and Miho did a fabulous job translating for us and the Maiko-san. We were able to engage in conversation and ask questions about her life, her motivations and what its like to live as an apprentice Geisha. It really was the most enlightening, interesting and educational experience for me and for my teenage daughter. Miho was an incredible guide, was so patient with all our questions and pointed out small details during our walk that we would have been oblivious to without her knowledge. The afternoon was a highlight of our trip to Japan!
