If you’re thinking of doing a later afternoon half-day safari, this is the tour to book. Our guide was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable about the animals. We landed at Kruger Mpumalanga Airport around 1:00 p.m. and wanted to do a safari on our first day. This was the only tour we found that departed as late as 4:30 p.m., which made it a perfect option for arrival day. The staff went to our hotel before we arrived and left a thoughtful goodie bag for us, which was such a lovely surprise. It included bottled water, sparkling sodas, snacks, and dried ostrich biltong! For the tour itself, we met the guide at the park. The tour was quite large, with around 15/20 people. We saw many animals. Because it was cooler in the evening, a lot of wildlife was active so we saw leopards, elephants, hippos, and more. The sunset was beautiful, and once it got dark, large flashlights were used to help us continue spotting animals. Overall, this was an excellent introduction to the park, and I would highly recommend it—especially if you’re arriving later in the day and still want to experience a safari right away.
Hi Will. I am so glad you enjoyed your first trip into Kruger. Thank you so much for noticing the "extra effort" we made to really make your trip a good one. Nice to kick off with a late afternoon Leopard and many more good sightings. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Travel safely and travel well.
The was super awesome. All people in our group it was their 1st game drive, to make it even more awesome, we saw all big 5. Our tour guide Rufus was like an encyclopedia, he knew and taught us a lot. Big upset Kruger Gateway Safaris. It was indeed a blessing knowing the company.
Hi Kabelo, I am really happy to hear Rufus made your day truly memorable. I will convey your comments to him. Thank you also for taking the time to review us. Travel safely.
My wife and I just concluded safari tours over two days with Gerrie, owner of Kruger Gateway Safaris....Having done safaris across several parks before, I can honestly say this was our best experience by a country mile. Kruger was simply spectacular..the sights, the sunset, the sunrise, the sounds of birds and wildlife, the amazing countryside, wildlife in abundance whilst we traversed the park covering over 200kms...Gerrie works hard to deliver a great experience. We had some amazing close encounters with elephant and giraffes really close by and saw all of the Big 5....In fact 4 of the 5 on Day 1. After Day 1 we were delighted and thought that the day could not be topped, but how wrong...Gerrie came through and made Day 2 even more exceptional, heading off to the furthest ends of the park. Now a short word about Gerrie...This man lives and breathes wildlife and conservation and is such a great brand Ambassador to Kruger National Park. He was just so knowledgable providing endless insights in animal sightings, characteristics, history of the Park, fauna and flora names ( even spouting the latin equivalents...lol). Great sense of humour and very engaging..definitely a people's person.. we had more than a few laughs over the two days. Gerrie was tireless in terms of his pursuit to show us the best the Park has to offer and giving us simply spectacular photo opportunities with all the game we saw. Nothing was too much and exceeded our expectations in every way. Apart from the happy snaps we took, Gerrie provided high quality images from his camera, which so clearly captured the image of the animals...Many of these will go up in frames on the wall at home, they were that good! We always felt comfortable, safe and in capable hands. Hands down exceptional value and benefit in going with a guide of this caliber. We sourced Gerrie through his positive reviews and given our unbelievable experience, he will be our guide of choice for future visits and we have no hesitation in recommending him to family and friends. Nice work Gerrie and you are so deserving of the accolades all of the reviews give you!
Hi Brad and Liz. I am humbled by the amazing review. I honestly only di what I love and Mother Nature provides. You contributed equally to the success of the trip. The emotion at one particular Elephant sighting will live with me forever. Keep well in Australia and maybe we will meet again.
