Incredible! The manta rays got so close to us. I went with my 6 and 8 year old sons (they are comfortable swimmers and know how to snorkel), and they loved it. I like that this company has the smaller boat (only 11 people), and I think that led to us seeing more rays. This boat leaves from a dock super close to the rays so it was only a 5 minute boat ride. Our guides/crew Taco, Koa and Max were great!
Great crew Koa, Taco and (Sorry) I can’t remember the third guy’s name. I couldn’t stay in the water bc I had a panic attack. I’m not very friendly with water, though I do know how to swim. The crew were SUPER kind and encouraging, helping me to get back into the boat & making sure I was ok. My family enjoyed it. They saw one manta. I do recommend it!
The staff was very super friendly. It was a pleasure to choose their company for such a fun experience. Please have experience in swimming though they offer life vest for those individuals who don’t feel as confident in their skills. The mantra rays and sea life was exciting to see
Such a fun experience snorkeling with the manta rays! Our guide Taco was a lot of fun and shared a ton of knowledge with us. We got to see 5 different rays and I was able to get amazing photos and video! The rays come so close they skim past you. We also got to see the baby ray Milky. So cute!
What a breathtaking experience! If you're visiting the Big Island, this is an absolute must-do activity. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. A special shoutout to Taco, who took great care of us while we were in the water and helped make the experience even more memorable. One of the reasons we chose My Kona Adventure was their smaller group size, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. Boarding and disembarking were quick and efficient, and the overall experience felt much more personal. We also opted for the shorter tour compared to some of the longer alternatives, which was the right choice for our family. The ocean can get quite choppy, and I think some of my family members might have become seasick on a longer excursion. We were incredibly lucky to see nine manta rays swimming right in front of us. It was truly magical and something we'll never forget. In fact, every member of our family agreed that this was the highlight of our entire Big Island vacation. A couple of tips for future visitors: Arrive early. Parking near the meeting location can be very difficult to find. If you're staying at the Outrigger, walking is probably the easiest option. Otherwise, give yourself plenty of extra time to park. If you're prone to motion sickness, take precautions. Even though my sister took one Dramamine tablet, she still felt seasick. If motion sickness is a concern for you, consider taking the recommended dose before the tour. This was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Don't hesitate—book the tour and enjoy one of the most amazing wildlife encounters Hawaii has to offer!
It was a great experience, So much fun! Great crew and appreciated the smaller boat with less people. Very kind and professional staff. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing! Must do experience while in Kona. Even if you just ride along and not go into water.. cool experience.
Aloha!!! We went on the night time manta ray excursion and it was PHENOMENAL!!!! We had Kao and Taco on our boat among a couple others and it was perfect from the moment we got on the boat! The guides made us all feel comfortable and relaxed!! We were all hesitant about getting in the pacific late at night but those worries were worries for no reason!!! We had the amazing experience of seeing 4 large Rays and their baby Milky! Would 1 million percent recommend this tour!! I wanted to back the following evening to do this tour again!!!! Thank you for the core memories!!
Kona manta ray night snorkel was absolutely magical! Watching these gentle giants glide gracefully beneath us in the dark water was breathtaking. Well organized, safe, and truly unforgettable, highly recommend to anyone visiting Kona!
We booked the 8:50pm tour, in July. Met at the designated area and signed our waivers. You will not be able to bring anything with you except a wallet, phone and keys. Dry storage on the boat is very limited. You will NOT be able to bring towels. You're expected to leave everything onshore within a storage bin. You're basically ready to get in the water. They do offer half wetsuits, which some in our group opt'd to get, which I should have since the ride back is cold since you're wet with no towels. From the check in you walk down to the dock, you leave shoes/sandals within another dry tub. From there you get on an inflatable type boat. The boat ride is a quick 5 min ride to the snorkel location. If you're prone to motion sickness, I would recommend taking medication. The boat ride is not bad, its when you're holding on to the light/float assembly, the water is choppy. You'll put on the snorkel gear on the way out. Once you're on site you'll jump in and hold on to the floating raft that has the lights. You're in a "superman" position for the duration of the trip. Your arms will get tired! We were lucky and were able to see more than 10 Manta Rays! I'll be honest, when we first booked the excursion wasn't too excited about jumping in the ocean when it's dark. The area we were wasn't that deep, I would say no more than 15 feet to the bottom, which you can see. Additionally, there are a lot of groups in the water with you. Well worth it and was the highlight of the trip! I forgot our guides names but they were awesome!
