On this 105-minute guided experience, you will explore the Tárcoles River aboard a safe and comfortable boat while learning about the rich biodiversity of this unique ecosystem. During the journey, you will have the opportunity to observe impressive American crocodiles, some reaching over 4 meters in length, as well as a wide variety of tropical birds and other wildlife along the riverbanks and mangroves. This tour includes wheelchair-accessible facilities, private parking, and welcoming gardens to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable visit for all guests.

Itinerary
Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed by our staff and guided to the boarding area at the Tárcoles River dock. A certified local guide will provide a brief safety introduction before boarding the boat. Once on board, you will begin a 105-minute guided wildlife boat tour along the Tárcoles River, one of the most famous crocodile habitats in Costa Rica. During the experience, your guide will navigate through mangroves and river ecosystems while pointing out American crocodiles, iguanas, and a wide variety of tropical birds. The boat moves at a comfortable pace, allowing guests to observe and photograph wildlife up close in its natural habitat. Throughout the tour, your guide will share information about the ecosystem and ensure a safe and enjoyable eco-tour experience. At the end of the tour, the boat returns to the dock where guests disembark.

This trip was amazing. Our guide was i formative and comical. He found lots of crocodiles and birds. The driver of the boat pulled close enough that we could’ve reached out and touched them (of course you can’t). He gave her stories about many of the crocodiles we saw. We paid extra for transportation and the driver was on time.

I saw more animals during this tour than during a walk in the jungle, all while being seated. The guide was helpful and funny, it's priced well.
First I want to thank the staff for being very accommodating to my wife and I. We drove from La Fortuna, expecting a drive of 3.5 hours. We allowed for an extra hour but the drive actually took over 5 hours due to many delays on the road. Obviously, we missed our appointed tour time and couldn’t wait around for the next one. The manager on duty that day worked it out for us to go on a “shorter” tour right away and we were able to go out with just a tour guide (Jari??) and boat driver (Stephen) and the two of us. It was great. We saw many varieties of birds and a bunch of crocs, including two of the three largest males on that section of the Tarcoles river. The males are huge! We did not go as far as the Tarcoles bridge, but we were able to go all the way to the mouth of the Tarcoles, as well as a mangrove cove. We saw a group of spoonbills in that area. We would highly recommend this tour.
