Jewish Krakow Walking Tour

Description
Poland was once a home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the world and a center of this thriving civilization was Kraków. Its historical Jewish district is a jewel of Jewish art and architecture. A place where 7 ancient synagogues, that amazingly survived the destruction of World War II and the Holocaust, stand witness to the test of time. During our tour we will discover the historical context of the local Jewish community, talk about the death and destruction of World War II but also witness the amazing Jewish culture’s revival in contemporary Kraków. Please note that booking this tour you will be joining our general pay as you wish tour (tour in which it is up to the guest how to reward his or her guide). In this case the amount you pay covers the reservation fee and the guide's payment. If you wish to join a smaller, private tour let us know and we will organise it for you!

Lucie - our guide - was excellent. So much knowledge! She was impressive.
Thank You very much for the review, Lucie wil appreciate it greatly:)
Another day, another fantastic Walkative tour on my trip to Poland. Michal was incredibly knowledgable about the history of the Jewish Quarter and how it is today. He had thorough answers to all of our group's questions and plenty of great recommendations for further exploration in this part of the city.
We did 2 tours with Joanna. The Krakow city tour and the Jewish heritage tour. Both were excellent. Joanna has a comprehensive knowledge of all subjects and a very pleasant and happy manner
Thank You very much, we are very happy You enjoyed the tours and will pass Your words to Joanna, she'll very much appreciate them:) All the best!
Our tour guide Natalia was great. She made the whole tour interactive and the time passed by very quickly. We learned a lot about the Jewish Krakow.
Thank You very much, Natalia knows her stuff well;) Come back to us for more great guides, all the best!
Big Tom was an awesome tour guide. The tour was thorough and served as a great introduction to the Jewish District. I would recommend this tour!
Thank you very much Julia! Hoping to see you on another Walkative! tour in the future. Regards, Walkative! team
A fantastic walking tour of the Jewish quarter. Very interesting and educational. Anya, our guide ,was funny and knowledgeable. She presented the difficult information about the ghetto in a very sensitive way. Highly recommend this activity. We wouldn’t have got nearly as much out of it if we had walked round ourselves.
Absolutely wonderful tour with Magda, a very in-depth tour and would highly recommend.
Our guide Joana made the most of our tour with so many details about the Polish Jews’ history. Worthy taking it. I recommend it.
I have very mixed feeling about this tour. First of all I booked it with Walkative directly and the site shows some confusing information about formula. Website suggest in the address name that the tours are free but the “themed” individual tours are labelled as “pay as you wish” however ….its not as you wish as they suggest that a fair price goes up to EUR 50 per person. When you book there is no payment request that indeed suggest that you will pay as you wish but our guide made it very clear from the minute 2 of the tour that some people on our tour still did not pay and that the rate is PLN 120 per person. Also, I was late one minute and he made a comment that “it’s ironic as i registered with Swiss phone numer”. The tone and comment left a bitter taste in my mouth the whole tour in particular as we finished in 2h 15 min so 15 min ahead of planned end thus 1 min delay did not have any adverse impact on the tour itself. Other than this Max was very knowledgable and passionate about the subject. Still, my experience with previous tours was very friendly and flexible aiming at reiaxed atmosphere and maximum pleasure. Unfortunately, this was the first one that made me question on participation in it.
Thank you for taking time to write a review! We value feedback from our guests that helps us improve our tours. We are happy that you appreciate our guide's knowledge and professionalism. While we want the guests to acknowledge that a professional guide's work deserves a fair payment, it is not a company policy to name specific prices, other than a very broad range that we give on our website for general orientation. Our guides are individuals with their own sense of humor. What one person may receive as a harmless remark or a witty icebreaker, will be bad taste and unnecessary playing on national clichés for another. In any case, we are sorry that the guide's comment left you upset. Once again, thank you for feedback. We hope to see you on another tour in the future.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable, explained everything in an engaging manner, and conducted the tour without any time pressure. As a Pole, she spoke in German for almost 3 hours. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Learned a lot about Krakow and Judaism.
Danke sehr für die Bewertung! Freut uns sehr, dass Sie die Tour gut fanden. Liebe Grüße und bis zum nächsten Mal, Walkative! Team
