Jeep Tour to Tijuca Forest in Rio de Janeiro

Description
What makes this trip unforgetable is that we use a 4 x4 convertible jeep, which is awesome for 360 degree views of the forest and also gives the tour the appeal of adventure. Visiting the forest in a jeep , gives you the ideal dimension of the national park`s size , as well as its true beauty.

Itinerary
The Tijuca Forest Tour , is probably one of the top 5 most popular tours in Rio de Janeiro city. The forest is considered to be the largest urban forest in the whole world. It represents 7% of the whole city`s territory, and it is also known as the lungs of Rio. Visiting the city without seeing the forest is like going to New York city and not seeing the central park. Rio is all about nature, wild places and beautiful views. All of these 3 things can be seen and enjoyed in Tijuca Forest. Our tour will take you across this beautiful green world , while birds, small mammals and exotic plants can be seen along the way. Common species are the Saguis and Capuchin monkeys, as well as the quatis ( brazilian raccoon), can be easily spotted there. In terms of birds, toucans, canarians, buzzards, hawks, and many other species may be seen along the way. Different routes combining the Forest with visits to Sugar Loaf, Corcovado and Beaches of the west coast can also be taken, just check our combo section. Tour includes visits to Taunay`s Falls ( just for pictures, no showering), Vista Chinesa (Chinese View) and Visitor Center.
We will stop at the Taunay waterfalls for pictures and some explanations about the location and where its name comes from. Possibility to see wild animals like raccoons and monkeys
We stop outside the chapel where we can see from outside famous paintings from brazilian artists. We also do a little 20 minutes hike around the chapel
We will stop at Vista Chinesa ( Chinese View) which is an old construction made in the early 20th century to honor the Chinese community who lived in the lower parts of the forest, growing tea. The views of the city from that location are breathtaking
We do a little stop at Mesa do Imperador ( emperor`s Table) a stone table built in the 19th century, which used to receive visitors from the high socienty of Rio, for pic nics, including our Emperor Dom Pedro II.
A quick stop at the Cachoeira dos Primatas ( mOnkey`s waterfalls) is also included. The place received its name due to the large amount of monkeys that can be spotted there every day
a little lake built near the exit of the national park on sector A, very charming and with many turtles and carp fishes.

The tour was incredibly (Christo+ Nationalparc) well organized from start to finish. Bernardo was extremely friendly and clearly put a great deal of effort into everything. You can genuinely learn a lot during the tour, as he shares very interesting and engaging facts throughout. It was perfectly organized from A to Z.
thank you very much i am glad you enjoyed the tour and the guide
This was a wonderful excursion. Our guides went above and beyond to give us a memorable experience. Highly recommend!
Eliel, our guide, was very good. The “jeep” is a Chevrolet truck but was good. The forest is in the city. We saw no animals or birds. We could not go into the visitor center or the Chinese palace. The short waterfall was scenic. We were unable to go to the taller waterfall. The drive back through the beach areas was the highlight.
Hello there. Some parts of the park were closed because we had a sudden storm alert and when that happens the park closes some parts without notice. About the animals it is a natural habitat so we cannot guarantee that animals can be seen. But you forgot to mention that you saw the big rodents we call capybaras at the lagoon. But thank you for your review
It’s an open air Jeep so best to remind clients to bring some protection from sun or rain or winds. Best thing about this tour was some view points, looking down onto the city and surrounding area.
yes its an open vehicle and that is mentioned on the tour page but your tittle seems like you were dissapointed with that fact, sorry to hear that and thank you for the review
This tour was not as described. It was not in a jeep, and the "adventure" component was not as expected. We hiked less than a quarter of a mile on a trail from one side of a roadway to another. Our guide was not knowledgeable about the wildlife and didn't know much about the forest, its history, or other background. His driving was dangerous, and we even had a tire blowout after he hit a rock. He drove us to Santa Teresa and the Selaron steps, but he had nothing to share with us about what we were looking at. I would encourage other travelers to find a safer, more knowledeable tour operator.
I am not sure what you mean because we only use 4x 4 convertible vehicles in this tour and we call them jeeps. These are serious accusations about our vehicle and guide so can you qt least give us the name of the guide? Was it a driver guide or the tour had a guide and a driver?
My family and I had a blast on this tour. Felipe was our guide and he was puntual, super nice and knowledgeable about Rio and the forest. He took us to all the hot spots for excellent picture taking. He was helpful in taking our photos and getting us to our next tour. I would definitely recommend this tour.
thank you for your review
Many thanks to our guide filepe for showing us the Tijuca forest with the most beautiful places to photograph, too bad for the bad weather.
mercy !!!
Our jeep tour was great, and the guide was excellent. The Organizer told us (via WhatsApp) the day before that the hike to Pedra Bonita was canceled due to weather-related reasons and that we would be offered an alternate hike. However, the guide on the day of the tour told us there was no hike included and that it was just a jeep tour. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this tour. Management of this tour appears to be very unorganized.
thank you for your review
Right from the first plea for help, Rio adventures were absolutely outstanding. They hooked us up with a tour that fit us beautifully. Communication was the best. We had the most amazing time with our guide, Gilberto, who was really patient, knowledgeable and so adaptable. He communicated with me via WhatsApp the day prior to our tour and his instructions about where to meet feom our cruise was precise and easy to follow.. a short 3min walk. Absolutely safe as houses. Our tour was so good, waterfalls and caves. The weather turned, and we ended up cutting our forest tour short.. our decision. But Gilberto took us to a few amazing places to fill in our time. We ALL thoroughly enjoyed our day.
