First Cooking Class

I participated in an advanced lesson and challenged myself to fillet a fish from scratch. The instructor taught me very carefully, so I was able to understand each step, even the difficult ones! I learned a lot of knowledge and skills that I don't usually have the opportunity to learn, such as how to handle fish and how to use a knife. 📚 The small class size made it easy to ask questions, and the friendly atmosphere throughout made it a fun and enjoyable experience. I would like to participate in another lesson in the future. Thank you very much.

Operator response

Thank you very much for joining our advanced lesson and for your kind review. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed learning how to fillet a fish from scratch. Fish preparation and knife skills can be challenging, but you did a wonderful job following each step carefully. We’re also glad that the small class size and friendly atmosphere helped you feel comfortable asking questions and enjoying the lesson. We would love to welcome you back again for another class in the future. Thank you again!

Authentic Japanese cooking experience

What a highlight to finish our trip in Japan on! I love Japanese food and it was great to learn how to cook at home more authentically and with better flavour. My mum is a food teacher and was excited to learn different cooking techniques. Ayumi and Mari's warmth and humour were infectious and their instructions were easy to follow. Being able to eat what we'd helped make at the end of the class was so satisfying and delicious. Having both an English and Japanese option made the class super accessible. To anyone wanting an authentic experience with Japanese cooking. we couldn't recommend this enough!

I felt like part of the ohana (family)!

Ayumi-san and Mari-san are the best! We started the experience by going marketing. They went above and beyond and explained different ingredients and products to me that I was interested in. They even took me to extra stores to find certain products I wanted. We started cooking. It was easy to follow along. Mari-san and Ayumi-san made dishes beyond what was listed on the description because I had shown interest in learning about them. I felt like part of their family. I loved all the dishes we made.

Great experience, recommended :)

After a hectic day of shopping in Shibuya, my sister & I headed to the district of Ebisu (just a few minutes away by train) for our cooking class. Ebisu is a charming little town, with its garden town center, shops, & restaurants. We were promptly met by Ayumi & Mari just outside the train station. First, we headed to the grocery store to pick up a few ingredients. The grocery store was amazing. Loved looking at all the beautiful produce, meat/seafood, & especially the bread/pastry section with its own bakery, yum! From the grocery store, we walked to Ayumi’s apartment nearby. We had so much fun cooking and even learning a little Japanese in her tiny apartment. I can’t wait to try Mari’s method for making miso soup, hamburger, & potato salad at home. I will never make it the same again. Our cooking class was one of the highlights of our visit to Japan. Arigatou gozaimasu :)
