After leaving the hotel or place you stay within 30 minute - 1 hour, visiting the Old town and museum. This building was formerly the Batavia City Hall (Dutch: Stadhuis van Batavia) which was built in 1707-1710 on the orders of Governor General Joan van Hoorn. There are some collections as well as Museum National with Prehistory and kingdoms of Hindu-Buddhist statues, metal and clay artifacts, pottery, replicas of ancient inscriptions (Tugu, Ciaruteun), and ancient regional maps. Dutch colonial period of antique furniture (chairs, cupboards), household items, maps, documents, ceramics, ancient coins, and weapons. Chinese culture of Ceramics, statues, and ornaments. Betawi culture of crafts (cloth bags), pedicabs. Also Special collections Prince diponegoro's room related to his struggles. Statue of hermes of Greek mythological god symbolizing the protection. The tour can be start from Old town or direct to a central as first site. The mosque as the biggest of SEA and modern design. After cathedral proceed to china town, we pass by the president palace then we stop for photo of monument. The national monument is a 132m as the obelisk in the centre Merdeka square, symbolizing the fight for Indonesia and built to commemorate the struggle Indonesia's independence and as the landmark of capital of indonesia, so this is the best spot to photo while you are in Jakarta without spend time in line with lift up. Visiting the chinatown from the old era, has been built the old pagoda 1650. Jakarta chinatown is one of the busiest and most fascinating. It is the largest Chinatown in the country, visiting the big market and its temple. During a recent work trip to Jakarta, I booked this private Heritage tour of the city. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the tour, the ease of booking, the pick-up and drop-off at my hotel. Great way to see Jakarta highlights. Visited the mosque, the third largest in the world. Went to old town, Chinatown and had lunch at Café Batavia overlooking the historic old town Square. Our guide Ine was super knowledgeable and very helpful. I would highly recommend her.

Brilliant day seeing the major sights of Jakarta with our great guide Haidar and driver Cakman. A highlight was lunch and a private tour of the fascinating Tugu Hotel in the old Batavian port area. I booked this private tour for our group of 4 through Viator but I communicated directly with the provider, Milo Ferdian, on WhatsApp and his responsiveness was outstanding. The itinerary was fine but also repeated a number of the types of stops we have already enjoyed during our numerous Asia shore excursions: a visit to the Chinatown area and an old temple, a tuk tuk ride (this one was very bumpy). The unique stops included a visit to a puppet showroom which included a nice descriptions of the products for sale. We had seen a number of Mosques earlier but this was the first time we went inside at Istiqlal. It was a magnificent building and very much worth seeing. Also at the end of the tour we visited the old boat port; while the tour photos looked romantic for this place, there is absolutely no concessions to making the location tourist friendly. We also stopped for some drinks and cake at Care Batavia and it was very lovely and inexpensive. I am sure of we were hungry, the meals would have been excellent there. Really the best thing about the tour was our fabulous guide - Gindo. He provided extensive details for everything we saw throughout the day and has a great personality. We also have a lovely driver, Mr. Ihsan. So while out Jakarta visit was not quite as fresh and standout as our earlier cruise stops, it was still very enjoyable on the strength of our guide and driver.

Had a great day Had a great driver and guide all to myself His English was excellent Got to experience the tourist side and the history side - very knowable guide And also experienced the general hussle and bussle life of Jakarta, Even a street food restaurant for locals where we all enjoyed a meal and chat Great day 5-6 hours was the advertised time but it was a bit longer at around 7 hours but that's Jakarta traffic Included a rickshaw ride though old section of Jakarta - not much chance of getting through those narrow streets in a car! Definatly worth the effort 👌 if you got a day free to experience Jakarta

We did the old city Jakarta tour 25 Nov 2025 and it was truly fabulous. Our guide ENOK made the day perfect. Enok was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable. Our first stop, the Istiqlal Mosque was wonderful - such a delight to be able to walk around Indonesia's largest mosque and the neighbouring Cathedral was just as impressive. But I think the biggest surprise of the day was the diorama display depicting Indonesia's history ...this unique way of story telling is something we will never forget and all directly under the city's national monument with 360 degree views from the top more than 100 meters up. Cafe Batavia was our lunch stop and while this historical site mostly caters to European styled food we opted for traditional Indonesian and it was delicious! The port was another surprise... being able to walk around the port and stand up on the sea wall and discover how Jakarta copes with being lower than the surrounding waters was another incredible discovery of the day. We couldn't find fault with the itinerary, guide or driver KHALIM who was always ready and weaved skilfully through the traffic keeping us safe at all times. All our tour stops were well curated for the time allocated at each stop. We never felt rushed and Enok was always happy to answer our questions.
